Sampled from bottle. The problem with a lot of golden/blond aies is that they’re never every spectacular. Not bad, but there just isn’t much to this one here. Straw color. Light hop and malt aromas and flavor.

From bottle, no 10 at Papsoes blindtasting. Pours hazy brown to deep orange and with a lacing off-white head. Hoppy and caramel malty aroma. Soft woody and dry hoppy flavour. Has a very subdued sweetness with is completely outconquered by the barley and the hoppy flavours. Has a mild spice note lingering into the finish and leaves a nice complex sensation. Ends mild and yet complex.

Black with a dark brown, thick head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malts, earth notes, liquor, and some cocoa. Thick, but not syrupy body. Flavor is roasted, chocolate, some earthy pine notes, coffee, and bittersweet malts. Becomes a little tart as it warms. Finish is long and bittersweet roasted cocoa. A mighty fine stout.

2009-02-04, draught at Akkurat, Stockholm, 8-5-8-4-16=41
Hazy golden color; big fluffy head; nice perlage. Very intense aroma of citrusy hops, very fruity, grapefruit, sweet; later, some crispy cookies and hop flowers too. Medium body strength, the malt and caramel flavor are almost completely overwhelmed by the fat hopping, very resiny and lightly fruity. The resins agressiveness is too high in the end. Crazy lack of balance, but I still love hops...

Cloudy golden color; big head. Very nice hoppy aroma, fruity and flowery. Medium body, not thick but nevertheless quite sweet, strong and aromatic hopping. The only defaut is a too high bitterness and astringency at the end: the hops have been used to death. Very good.

Beautiful red-amber color. Very nice malty aroma, and vanilla oak. Strong malt and toffee flavor, sweet, lightly phenolic, with an evident nutty edge. Still strong bitterness. Warming alcohol presence. It can hold up a few years more, but it won’t ever be too exciting.

Cloudy red-amber color; creamy head. Very good malt and hop aroma. Good malty body, with its fairly strong hop share, caramelly and chocolatey. Good Barley Wine or American Strong Ale, even if a bit unemotional; but I like it.

(Bottle 65 cl) Slightly hazy, dark amber golden with a creamy, off-white head leaving some lacework. Fat aroma of caramel and overripe fruit. Solid body with rich caramels and again lots of overripe fruit notes. Harmonious and balancing bitterness. Well-made. 301107
