Acorn Brewery is born and bred in Wombwell Barnsley, where we have been growing up since 2003. Moved to current address in October 2007. Since the very first brew of Acorn Barnsley Bitter back in 2003 the brewery has amassed over 50 awards for the quality of its’ cask and bottled beers

Short white head on a clear copper coloured body. Malt & fruity aroma. Medium bodied & smooth. Malt, caramel, sweet fruits & a bitter hoppy finish.

Cask at the cardinals hat Lincoln. Off black colour with a dark tan head. Aroma and taste are malty and coffee rich and dried fruit. Smooth body.

Tried at the 2023 Lincoln Beer Festival 2023. Pale golden colour with a white head. Light tropical fruity. Slight bitter. Light body.

Cask pint, hand-pulled in Rose Cottage, Matlock Bath on Friday 5th May 2023. Smooth white head on a clean golden body. Mild Citrus front to the nose and taste, oranges being the main fruit, some malt action for balance, nice easy drinking pint.

Cask at the railway inn. Almost black colour with a thin off white head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, and biscuit. Taste is mid sweet.

16/4/2023. Cask at The Percy Shaw, Halifax (where I learnt today the name of the inventor of cat’s eyes). Pours golden, settles clear with a creamy white head. Aroma of citrus, orange, straw, flowers, malt. Moderate sweetness and medium bitterness. Decent body, average carbonation. Drying bitter hop finish. Enjoyed this. £1.96 net of a 50p CAMRA voucher well spent.

Cask @ Turl's Green, Bradford. Copper with a small amber glow and a creamy head. Has a malty base but not too over stated given its fairly easy strength. Decent darker ale with a bitterness.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol 30/1/2022. Amber in colour, with a lacy, white, head. Sweetish aroma, with hedgerow hops, some fruitiness and ripe malts. Flavour had more berries, some citrus sharpness, a full maltiness, before a lingering, bitter, finish. A good English IPA.
