Cask at the Friends of Ham, Leeds. Pours black with a lasting tan colour head. Aroma of chocolate, alcohol, light coffee, also vague notes if smoked meat. Moderate sweetness, light roasted bitterness. Full body, slick texture, soft carbonation. Seems a little harsh to start, but appreciated it more after short while.

Bottle. Turner’s, Sheffield. Lovely screen printed artwork on this. Pours cola brown. Film of pale tan head. Nose has nutmeg, cinnamon and brown sugar. All that festive thing. Taste is cola sweet. Gets dry and cinnamon like. Light body. Light sugary finish. Not my cup of tea.

Pitch black, brown head. Smells of malty fruit. Taste has a bit of fruit too. A bit tangy. Some malty chocolate and caramel. Slightly tangy, sour aftertaste. Not remarkable but a thoroughly decent pint.
