[50cl bottle from my local Sainsburyโs .] A slightly hazy reddish chestnut pour with a ring of cream coloured head; aroma of burnt sugar; smooth malty taste with hints of Shep yeast, then some caramel; then a slightly drying finish.

[50cl bottle from my local Sainsbury's.] A bright copper pour with a ring of white head and course carbonation; leafy hop aroma; fruity tea taste, then some caramel malts; and a light herbal bitterness. Pleasant but rather boring.

[50cl bottle from Sainsbury's, Bracknell.] An amber coloured pour with a loose cream head; simple malty aroma; straightforward malty taste; finished off with a few English hops and some caramel. A traditional bitter, probably not to everyone's taste nowadays, but I would have rated this quite highly forty odd years ago.

[50cl bottle from Sainsbury's, Bracknell.] A clear pale amber pour with a trace of white head and some gentle carbonation; typical Shep yeasty aroma; some citrus bite to start, then sweet with orange and tangerine flavours. Rather flabby and unexciting.

500ml bottle from Sainsburys. Deep reddish-amber in colour with a short-lived off-white head. Aroma of caramel, dusty hops and red berries. Flavour had more fruit, some toffee sweetness, ripe malts and a moderately bitter finish. Ok.

500ml bottle. Copper coloured, with a thin, white, head and touch of carbonation. malty aroma of caramel and red berries. Flavour was sweetish, with bread malts, some more fruitiness and moderately bitter finish. Ok.

Bottle from Sainsbury's supermarket, Blackley. Clear pink coloured and sweet tasting, doing what is says on the glass with a pleasant perfume style mix of peach and lime.
