Description
Our beers are made of passion and knowledge, culture and innovation, memories and visions of endless worlds real and futuristic.

Giovanni Campari founded Birrificio del Ducato together with two other partners. Giovanni is still the brewmaster of the brewery, which officially began the production of craft beer on March 27th 2007 in Roncole Verdi, Busseto (PR). The historic production site was transformed into Sour Brewery in 2015, when we transferred the main brewery to the new headquarters in Soragna (PR). Here we produce the main beer lines, through a fully automated system, which includes advanced PLC controls and centrifugal separator. The brewery currently has a 60-hl 5-vessel brewhouse and a total cellar capacity of 1200 hl.

At the end of 2016 Duvel Moortgat acquired 35% of the shares of the brewery. In 2018 Duvel Moortgat acquired 70% of the brewery’s shares, investing its resources in a new laboratory and in a new bottling line.

Bottle, 5.2%. Buttery aroma. Cloudy dark orange colour. Stable creamy tan head. The flavour starts off a little buttery with a distinct and slightly rough hoppiness. Then comes a little spicy note from the hops. The finish is caramelly and buttery.

Bottle, 5.8%. Grassy hop aroma. Hazy orange colour. Big stable tan head. The flavour has a citric hoppiness with some malt to balance. It continues citric, but not infected, more like a citrus fruit flavour. Reminds me of a thinner, more balanced version of their Winterlude.

Bottle, 8.4%. Cloudy orange colour. The flavour is citric and slightly sweet. Has some Belgian yeast notes as well as an orangey fruitiness and citricness. Slightly syrupy mouthfeel. I had expected something darker and sweeter, and that the alcohol flavour with be more evident.

On tap at Pigs Ear BF 08. Hazy russet, thin beige head. Very hoppy American IPA aroma. Bit sweet, but a pretty good IPA. Sweetish red fruits, great sticky hops. Pretty good. Earthy. Nice beer, bit sticky, but its a decent effort. Earthy grapefruit

Bottle, pours clear orange/yellow with a frothy 2 finger head, some yeast floaties, and good lacing. Aromas are pleasant. Light hops mix with spice and invite the tongue for a taste. The mouth is slightly creamy as you draw some seet malt flavors into the mouth, moderate carbonation hits, and light bitterness is present for a second until some nutmeg/cinnamon and correander/yeast combinations round the beer out. Very pleasant, the spice is a nice change of pace. Gets better as it warms, more complex malt and alcohol notes are present. I hope to get this again someday.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Black with light brown head. Some alcohol in the aroma. The body is to light for this beer and the chili is to heavy. Did they ad the chili just to hide a mediocre stout? Had to pour it out to not destroy the rest of the beer tasting session.

Bottle. Black. Brown head. Malty and spicy aroma. Tastes like a regular imperial stout, malty and roasted, with chili added to it. But the chili dosent feel like a part of the brew. Interesting idea but not a very good result.
