About
Looking for the real taste of Antwerp? Since 1833, there has been just one address: our Antwerp City Brewery. Because when people get together in Antwerp, they do so more often than not with a Bolleke Koninck in their hand. And that’s how De Koninck has become synonymous with Antwerp –and vice-versa. Every day, we work hard to uphold this proud tradition while also experimenting on ways to perfect and reinvent the taste of Antwerp.

Bottle. Color: Clear yellow golden, dense white head. Taste: Malty and yeasty blond beer with a lot of spices. Coriander, ginger and orange peel are very well recognizable. Some hints of pepper and in between all the spices also some hopbitter hints. Medium body and carbonation. Ginger mouthfeel at finish. Watery texture. OK testbrew from this in my opinion rather conservative brewery, but a bit too spicy for me to be a keeper.

Thanks to 90! Sampled draft @ Modeste 2017. Black, pasty mocha bubbles. Nose is insanely heavy on Rum, seriously did they just pour that stuff in here or what? Stupidly alcoholic Rum, alcohol is so harsh pure varnish, spices all the way. Carbonation is soft odd oily almost liquorice chocolate syrup but the rum is all over this thing, so much bloody rum, how much was there left in that barrel, did they poor in more? It is insanely alcoholic hot rum & spiced rum tasting, raisin. The definition of overkill, I haven’t tried Barrel Aged Duvel but apparently that one was also so heavy on the spirit. Doesn’t even taste like beer but beer mixed with hard liquor. It isn’t bad but it a baffling cocktail of sorts. I have no idea what in line satuarion means.

Bottle from BierLand, Belgium. A decent ale; I suppose an Antwerp ale is a mix of English Pale, Belgian Strong and APA. It has that vevelty wine taste of a Belgian strong, the palate of an English pale and some caramel of an APA. It's fine but nothing cray.

Bottle in Reimes. Smooth floral. Hints of malt, hints of yeast with hints of spices. Orange peel is there, floral freshness, mild herbal aftertaste.
