Cask at The Masons Arms, Headington Quarry, Oxford 27-09-09 Pours copper in colour, toffee, fruit and malts on the nose. Taste is quite full flavoured with plenty of the aforementioned in the mouth, some hops and bitterness add to the proceedings, all in all very nice beer, I had a couple. A7 A4 F7 P4 Ov14 3.6

[Gravity cask at the Henley Show] Strange source for a beer - a solicitor’s stand at the Henley Show (not sure what it was doing there amongst the wellly sellers and dog breeders anyway) was trying to attract attention by handing out free glasses of beer and balloons - the perfect combination for me and my daughter (I had the beer...!). It poured a deep amber-chestnut with a moderate creamy head. Sweet malt is perfectly balanced against a wood, earthy bitterness. It’s simple, but well executed and tasty; it’s nice to see a darker traditional style bitter when increasingly the style is dominated by insipid, pale ones. And three cheers for the best solicitor in the world (wish I could remember their name...)

(Cask at GBBF, London Earl’s Court, 5 Aug 2009) Dark amber colour with brief, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with nuts, apricots, caramel and dusty hops. Malty, fruity taste with notes of dried fruit, nuts, caramel and dusty hops in a bitter-sweet finish. More than medium body, some sweetness. Well balanced and tasty.
