Welcome to Melvin Brewing! This is the beginning of your wonderful new, Kung Fu friendship between our brew family and all beer lovers alike. Talk of Melvin began on the West coast — but the heart of Melvin started beating in the small town of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. With big ideas and even bigger barrels of hops, Melvin now takes off in the hands of Founder, Jeremy Tofte, and head Production Brewer, Ian Fuller. We started in the back of a Thai restaurant on a 20 gallon system in 2010 and upgraded to a 100-gallon system in 2011. Now we brew on a 30 barrel system with big shiny tanks and centrifuges and things. Fancy that. The state of Wyoming wanted to export some high-quality goods to the outside world, so they gave us a $3 million dollar grant to build a Production Facility. We landed in the quaint mountain hamlet of Alpine (pop. 700), 30 miles south of the Hollywood of Wyoming. From the new brewery, we sent our first kegs out to the West Coast in January 2016 and cans came out on April Fools Day 2016. We put a metric shit ton of hops in our beers and ferment and dry hop them longer than most. Did we mention we started with a full lab to check consistency and quality on an hourly basis? Who does that? Would you look at that? Sometimes you just gotta look at it.

Freezing cold US Pint, on tap in the Beach Hut Deli in Mission Viejo on 20th March 2026. Pours a misty pale lemony blonde, weak white crust on top. No aroma, too cold, no taste initially, too cold. Did I mention how cold it was? It's fairly fizzy and might have a slight fruity/limey, bitter undertone but I'm not too sure, it was too cold!

Appearance: copper color with a sly transparency about it. Two finger white foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: citrusy to floral hoppiness, clean caramel/toffee malt base
Flavor: low bitter to bittersweet blend of the prior noted aromas; finishes citrusy/floral and a touch of maltiness
Texture: light to medium bodied, sessionable, good smoothness, some bitterness, light dryness
Overall: nice enough APA worthy of coming back to

Appearance: copper/orange color with a finger's worth of white foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: tropical fruity hops, grassy sweet hops, subtle mangoes; caramel/toffee malts
Flavor: blends the prior noted aromas together in a bittersweet West coast way; nice finish of the tropical fruity hops
Texture: medium bodied, good sipper, some smoothness, light dryness and a kiss of bitterness
Overall: nicely done West coast styled DIPA worthy of coming back to.

Aroma: citrusy and grassy hops and a caramel/toffee malt base
Flavor: leads with the malts and then the hops make a decent to combine to some bittersweetness; finishes malty and citrusy
Texture: light to medium bodied, sessionable, some smoothness
Overall: nice enough APA but I wouldn't mind if the hops were more cohesive with the malts in the taste, just my two cents.

Aroma: corn, corn husk, light lemon, wet grains, some biscuits and white bread
Flavor: takes the prior noted aromas to a fair malty sweetness; slight corn-like sweet finish
Texture: light bodied, sessionable, good smoothness
Overall: the rest of the cans paired well with Taco Tuesday, so yes, I would return to this.

Appearance: glossy burnt amber color with some transparency and a two finger white foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: grapefruity to peachy to apricot-like hops flanked by some grassy hops and subtle citrusy hops, light caramel malts
Flavor: mirrors the aromas in a nice clean bittersweet sort of way; great finish of graoefruity to peachy hop tones
Texture: medium bodied, good as a sipper, some smoothness, good level of carb, low hop bitterness
Overall: pretty good DIPA I would be willing to come back to.

Appearance: rustic copper color with a subtle transparency about it, two finger white foamy head which slid off nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: piney/resinous hops with some citrusy/grapefruity hops, light caramel malts
Flavor: bittersweet through the blend of the prior noted aromas; finish of citrusy and piney hops
Texture: light to medium bodied, fairly sessionable, some smoothness and slight hop assertiveness
Overall: pretty nice AIPA I could come back to.
