About
The brewery was founded by Phil and Cynthia “Scuttle” Bannan in 1996 with a 20 barrel system in the brew house, two 20 barrel fermenters and one 20 barrel bright tank. Since then our capacity has grown and we have broadened our product line to include more than 20 styles of hand-crafted ales and lagers.
After more than 20 years Scuttlebutt Brewing Company remains family owned and independent.

Since the beginning Scuttlebutt beers have been brewed in Everett with the Northwest’s finest ingredients – barley from Vancouver, Washington, hops from the Yakima Valley, a proprietary yeast from Odell, Oregon and some of the nation’s finest drinking water from the Spada Reservoir in the Cascade Mountains. Our beers are clean, balanced and have been brewed with care for over 17 years.

In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate malt with light butterscotch, nutty notes, light grassy hops, light mineral notes, silky mouth feel, nice.

Bomber from Special Brews in Lynnwood, WA. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of dark malt and something hard to pin down. Med body + a bit. Flavor is smooth dark malt, and something tannic or woody. With thought I can believe there’s a walnut aspect. It finishes with a bend towards light sour. Very light, but definite. It’s very different from the standard porters. The astringency/mild sour really sets it out. Not usually a fan of nutty brews, but this is not that exactly.

Draft pour pint at Scuttlebutt. It is incredible how much of an impression the barrel left here. It’s almost like whiskey was poured in. Pours a dark cola black with a patchy foam head. Aroma is pure whiskey from a distance. Cool flavor, wood, whiskey, and toasty malt. Excellent beer.

Draft pour pint athe Scuttlebutt. Pours an orange copper color with a lasting fizz head. Grain forward aroma. I actually enjoy this much more after it sat and wares up a bit. Good flavors, really came out this way. Some orange, and a balanced grains and hop finish. Pretty good.
