12 ounce can from Tavour. Nearly opaque dark brown pour. Frothy tan head. Earthy, oaky roasted malt aroma hints at burnt sugar and dark currants. Rich, roasty malt flavor upfront. Complex notes of brandy soaked raisins, oak , bourbon, vanilla and treacle. Warming alcohol in middle. Wonderfully complex and flavorful. Sticky mouthfeel. Outstanding.

Draft at DFW airport. Black with a creamy, beige head. Coffee mocha aroma. Taste is roasted bitter. There’s a slight hint of sourness underneath that never really comes to the fore, and no doubt better so. Medium to full bodied, mildish carbonation. Lacks the malty depth of a traditional winter warmer, actually more reminiscent of a porter. Okay.
