We’ve produced quality beers over the years by challenging and refining our craft, not by appeasing trends. Discerning taste, rolled up sleeves, and upholding our uniquely progressive ideals ensures our drinkers will appreciate Upland beers as much as we do. Many of our brews are unique twists on traditional recipes, while others are creations of our own imaginations. At our brewpubs and tasting rooms in Bloomington, Columbus, Carmel and Indianapolis, flavor, discourse, debate, laughter, and conversation flow as freely as our beer.
Upland Brewing Company was founded in 1997 by Marc Sattinger, Russ Levitt and Dean LaPlante. In 1998, distribution of bottles and kegs began and the brewpub opened its doors. In 2006, ownership changed hands to a group of local investors remains 100% family owned. In 2012, a new brewing facility and bar was opened on the west side of Bloomington which became the primary brewing facility for Upland,
Small white head over hazy orange-golden beer. Lemon, shoepolish, horseblanket, wild yeasts. Lemon, horseblanket, floral, unripe fruit. Tart - citruspeel, lemonbalm, lemonsquash. Very sour, giving lipsmacking acidity. Feels better carbonated than it looks, acidburn and -thinning. Quite good - sharp, but never exaggerated as so many.
12 oz. can from HEB in Boerne, TX. Pours a hazy pale gold color with a white head and fair retention. Very little lacing. Strong grapefruit and hops aroma. The flavor has less grapefruit and more apricot flavor and a soft hops finish. Light body. Low bitterness. Lower carbonation. Decent.
Can. Clear amber with a large white head that lasts pretty well. Aroma is toasty and floral with some berries and kumquats. There's not a lot to the malt except caramel but there are berries and pine towards the bitter finish. A bit of a throwback but OK.
Lemon and some pepper. Golden pour with ok head. A light bit of coriander. Soft flavour and easy drinking. Fizzy carbonation. Light tangy finish but petty clean. Can from advent calendar.
Can from a local bar we got to for the food. @Home. BB:101221. Guess that means it's old. Frozen head, clear, pale gold, sticky. Boring clean steel & grain nose. Taste is every so slightly malty, but straight clean after that. Twinge of metallic hops, then clean water. Super refreshing. Frothy, thin, somewhat slick. Great. Keep cold.
US Pint can in the Red Dog, Pioneertown, California on 7th January 2022. Pale yellow, clear body, fast fading white head. Slightly sweet with a corn like flavour, not unpleasant, soft mouthfeel.
Can at home, Nivala. Enjoyed straight from the can. Aromas and flavours: Dark chocolate, cacao, some orange, roasted malts... little bit of sugary and unbalanced.
Molasses, chocolate malt, and hay aroma. Dark brown with minimal head. Moderately sweet molasses, chocolate malt, and mildly bitter hay flavor. Nice body and balance. Excellent.
