Sample at the brewpub. The beer is a clear pale golden color with a thin and fizzy white head that diminishes quickly. Short strings of lacing. Mild grain in the nose with a touch of fruit. Light body with flavors of grainy malt and citrus. Bits of hops as well. The finish is clean and malty with a short fruity finish. Average overall.

750ml corked and caged bottle purchased to-go from the downtown location - pours a hazy amber, with a thick, well-sustained head - a lot of pine and grapefruit in the nose, with substantial caramel character, some cherry, strawberry - very low carbonation despite the foamy head (almost feels like cask ale in the mouth) - seems on the higher end abv-wise for a "regular" ipa (I’m guessing around 7 or 7.5%) - tastes a little bit aged/oxidized - earth hop character is present, but starting to fade with age - fairly malty, with some orange and mango accenting the sweetness - finishes spicy, with light lingering sweetness - I kinda like this - I wonder what it’s like fresh. (note - I’ve consumed about half the bottle at this point, and judging by the way I feel, this beer might be higher than 7.5)

Bomber purchased to go from downtown location - labeled as "schwarz hacker black lager - pours a dark ruby, with a bright white ring of foam - lightly doughy aroma, a decent amount of roasted malt, notes of coffee, chocolate, cream - medium-sweet, with a decent amount of char and coffee bitterness to balance it out - a little spicy kick of hops on the back end - lingering chocolate and cream sweetness - this is a decent schwarz.

Bomber purchased to go from downtown location, labeled as "smoked up porter" - pours a fizzy dark brown - fairly substantial, soapy lace - aroma of roasted, nearly burnt malts, damp charred wood, blueberries, light smoke - flavor is rather sweet - strong roasted malt character, some char and mild smoke, and a light bitterness try to temper this, but it remains pretty dang sweet - some anise quality thrown in there - fairly creamy texture - not nearly enough smoke for my taste, and that sweetness starts to get to me after a while - light acidity on the tail end, despite the high sweetness - not great, but better than I was lead to expect fro this brewery.

The beer pours dark brown with a sticky head. Aroma is very earthy, with a roasty, toasty feel. Roast becomes more evident, becomes fumy, espresso - Not overwhelming, but perfectly present. Taste is a bit watered down compared to the aroma. It’s lightly bitter with slightly sweet bark and a bit watery aftertaste.

The beer pours lightly hazy golden and also has a sticky head. Aroma is thick dry wheat with a airy breeze. Taste is surprising because it starts with a strong bitterness followed by a scratchy grainy aspect. Has a short bitter aftertaste. Leaves a perfectly non-sissy wheat flavor that is not overpowering either.

This beer pours a hazy golden with a thick, sticky head that just wont come off the sides of the glass. Aroma is present with very fresh harvested hops that are earthy, leafy and with lemon touches. It’s perfectly hoppy for my tastes and then there is enough biscuit malts behind that to even the aroma out. Taste is lightly bitter with less hop presence and a perfectly sessionable maltiness thats faintly sweet. A very nice thick and soft mouthfeel to offset the bitterness of the hops. Very nice light yet thick session beer.

draught RB Denver 2003 DRAUGHT Saison? Full-hazy yellow. Fine white head. Wheat-smell, slightly spicy (pepper, Szechuan-pepper). Taste is banana & cloves. This is a bl**din Weizen!!! And not even a good one at that. Medium bodied, very carbonated, fizzy, banana aftertaste. OUCH!! Does ’Rock-Bottom’ mean one can’t fall any deeper?

Bottle from Rock Bottom in Denver: Clear cola color with a medium thick khaki head that diminishes slowly. Thick coat of lacing too. Musty malt aroma with some dough and citrus. Medium-bodied and smooth with a mildly malty and nutty flavor. The flavor does not last long though and starts to transition to blandness right away. The sweetness is always there but the other flavors don’t have lasting power. The finish is mildly nutty and hoppy. Below average in the end.

Bottle from Rock Bottom in Denver: Pours a clear pale amber color with a medium bone white head that has good retention. Thin spotty lacing. Citrus and hops in the aroma. Medium-bodied and mildly hoppy with an off malt flavor crashing the party right away. The stale malt and vinegar flavor is becoming an all-too-familiar trend with these beers. The finish is bitter but not in a flavorful way. Rock Bottom is either keeping their bottles way past expiration or they just don’t travel well. Either way this was another letdown.
