It’s started already. Draft at the Aussie Backpacker Pub. Looks better than The Donald. Sweeter and spicier too. Thanks Juks! Nice spice and malt profile, decently hopped

Bottle, as Alķīmiķis Stout, probably its the same beer. Pours dark brown, beige head, off-tan head. Some roast in the nose, green apple, fruits. Taste is easy, some burnt roasted malts there, not very stoutish maybe, more like black ale. Lingering bitterness in the finish.

Bottle 33 cl. A slightly hazy dark amber with a creamy, off-white head. Tropical, perfumy hop aroma. Rich, caramellish body. carbonation is a bit to the low side, but the beer feels very smooth on the palate. Not overly sweet in spite of the caramel, all in control by a solid bitterness. Absolutely decent if not exactly crisp. 170517

Draught at Easy Beer, Rīga. Light brown with a slight reddish hue. Looks thin. Light aroma of oak chips and bitter chocolate. Taste is surprisingly bitter, almost medicinal. Short finish with little aftertaste: a bit of red wine but that’s all. Nothing wrong with it, but it’s instantly forgettable.

(Keg at Bierhaus, 20170105) The beer poured deep amber and nearly clear. Its head was small and white. Aroma had grass, herbalness, caramel and malts. Palate was nearly full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were grass, herbalness, caramel, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy, malty and bitter. A rather nice hoppy barley wine.

(Keg at Bierhaus, 20170105) The beer poured amber and hazy. Its head was large, white and it lasted long. Aroma had coffee, fruitiness and butter. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, coffee, bell peppers, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy and bitter. A decent coffee infused pale ale. Would have been better without the coffee.
