Received as a gift. Sorry, I can’t drink this. For me this is horrible apple and cinnamon taste that I can’t take. Drain pour.

5% Ordered direct from a brewery & served in a tumbler. It pours a mellow opaque honey gold with a flavorful nose: earthy sharp wasabi, lime, pepper. It kind of burns my nostrils a bit breathing this in. Lively sharp carbonation. Whoa, picture one of those over-the-top chili beers where they swap in wasabi & dial it back a bit, well maybe not the more you drink the more the wasabi builds up. Earthy wasabi burn is the flavor, this is definitely one of the more extreme beers to come out of Japan. If you don’t like wasabi like myself it is a bit too full on(3.2 out of 5) but if you like wasabi you’ll love this beer(anywhere from 3.6 to 3.9 I’d guess). Geez, it is tough to finish, I should have paired it with sushi... saved! My wife pulled some sushi out of the fridge and it paired really well with it making it easier for me to finish off my glass.

2016 Bottle. More or less the same as before. A little too roasty and one-dimensional. Not bad though. 330ml bottle 2015 edition (9% ABV) from Ito Yokado in Asagaya. Poured into a tulip glass. Dark brownish black color with a huge soapy brown head. Big aromas of burnt coffee, coriander, roasted malts, bitter chocolate, alcohol and hops on the nose. Tastes strongly of bitter dark cacao, burnt coffee, cardamom with slight hints of corrainder and arugula. Can’t really taste the alcohol on the palate. Well-hidden. Oily mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Mostly bitter and peppery finish.

On tap at Watering Hole February 2014. Served in a shaker pint. Huge orange aroma with dark chocolate as well. Tastes of quality cacao, orange, and toasted malts. A nice creamy mouthfeel with mostly a smooth bittereness on the palate, however there is also a bit of sourness in there too. Great smooth finish with a hint of vanilla/bourbon. Another solid dessert beer effort from Sankt Gallen.

On tap at craft beer market Toranomon. Served in a snifter. Copper rust colored with a thin white head that dissipated fairly quickly. Strong aromas of fig and prune with traces of nutmeg, vanilla, caramel and alcohol. Smooth slightly creamy mouthfeel. Vanilla and cinnamon present. Big bitterness on the palate. Like a nice smooth bourbon on the finish. Dangerously smooth.

2014 craft beer market Toranomon. Served in a snifter. A rusty Amber color with a small white head. Really big fruit aroma: pear, fig, currant with a bit of wheat and vanilla. Hope jump out on the palate with a resiny bitterness. Thin body and slightly watery mouthfeel with a little alcohol noticeable on the finish. --- Beer merged from original tick of Un Angel Wheat Wine on 03 Feb 2016 at 14:04

Re-rate: Tap at Watering Hole. Thanks Eric for sharing! Really active carbonation and a ton of orange zest on the nose and palate. Very refreshing and fun fruit beer that is beer forward. Dry finish that lingers with some pithy orange and zesty notes. 2014 on tap at Watering Hole. Hazy golden orange color with a small off-white head. Really pleasant mikan aroma with a bit of iyokan and wheat as well. Citrusy and fruity on the tongue with some cinnamon and peppercorn present. Nice crisp and refreshing finish. --- Beer merged from original tick of Shonan Gold (湘南ゴールド) on 14 Aug 2015 at 20:45 - Score: 7

Great Japan Beer Fest in yokohama. Rich dark brown color with a nice tan head. Toffee, roasted malt and brown sugar on the nose. Nice roasted coffee taste with slight hints vanilla and molasses. Starts of creamy but thins out on the palate. Well balanced. Sankt Gallen is quite good with their dessert stouts and porters. --- Beer merged from original tick of Kokutou Sweet Stout (黒糖スイートスタウト) on 03 Feb 2016 at 14:02

On tap at craft beer market jimbocho summer 2014. Served in a half pint glass. Clear golden pineapple yellow color with a small off-white head. Strong pineapple aroma with a hint of clover honey and mint. The aroma is much more pleasing than the taste. Slightly malty and earthy hops present with a rough bitter dry finish. Was expecting something different...pineapple didn’t really shine through much.
