Can: Poured a black color stout with a large brown foamy head with limited retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of floral coffee notes with some black chocolate notes. Taste is a mix of chocolate malt notes with light roasted flavors with some floral coffee notes and light acidic notes. Body is a bit light for style with good carbonation. OK but lacking body and coffee is slightly too acidic.

Aromas are pineapple, malt and stone fruit. Flavors are similar to nose. Add in some marshmallow and caramel. On the sweet side. Good body and carbonation . Good stuff.

Can to snifter.
Appearance: dark brown in the pour and seems to leave an even darker brown close to black in the glass with a half a finger's worth of khaki foamy head which dissipated at a good pace to leave mild lace
Aroma: milk chocolate, dark chocolate, lots of dark fruits, sweet coffee and some sweet earthy character
Flavor: meshes the prior noted aromas to a fine sweet quality with an undertone of bitterness and a hint of roastiness; finishes sweet leaning into the chocolate and dark fruits
Texture: medium bodied; good as a sipper; quite smooth along the tongue with a speck of non-bothersome dryness; good carb level
Overall: I say a very nicely done RIS very worthy of returning to.

a: deep brown coloured body | thin rich brown head
a: nutty | earth | lightly smoked grains
f: woodsie | funky soy sauce | tart-ish blueberries
t: clean fruits | oatmeal | complex finish
o: interesting | a bit too comprehensive (especially after all this time) | would this have been better fresh (I'm not quite sure)

Barleywines are difficult to find in my part of the world, Half Time in NY helps with that. Today I have a pint can to sample, my Great Heights snifter is present and ready. The appearance is a copper-amber body completed by a thin but steadily recharged head of taupe foam. I find the nose to be toffee, grain and red plums. A decent enough scent with the taste easily better. Raisins, scorched grain, caramel, hay, ripe plums, malt and a bit of hops background. The elevated ABV is hard to determine in the tasting but we shall see as we go, 16 oz after all. I call this a good start to the evening.

Pour is a bright amber with a large white head. Aroma is tootsie roll and baked bread. Flavor is a nice toasted grain with some caramel malt with a little tobacco on the finish. Nice example of a style that does not get much love.

Pour is a complete black with a nice sized tan head. Aroma is nice. Lots of roasted and charred malt. A little bitter bakers chocolate in there. Flavor is also very nice with more of the bitter chocolate with a minor roasted finish. A bit thin in the mouthfeel but this was a nice stout.
