Aromas are dark malt, toffee and a hint of toast. Flavors are similar to nose. Just very slightly more sweet than bitter with good carbonation. Straightforward beer, nothing fancy but good.

I prefer a regular imperial stout, the pastry stouts can be just over the top. But that does not mean I will not taste them. Tonight I have Last Course to try, the can came to me from Half Time in New York. The tab is lifted and I pour. A quite dark, caramel brown liquid with a thin tan foam covering the top. I smell maple, grain and and a promise of sweetness. The taste does match up somewhat with the scent. There is wood, syrup, a grain taste that could be pie crust and a candy sweetness. The sensation is thinner that I anticipated and that is a setback. The pecan pie thing in total is escaping me. Perhaps my expectations were too great.

A: strong icing sugar | burnt nuts | rich oatmeal
F: flavourful chocolate | pungent | warming end
T: marshmallows | soft brewed coffee | sweet finish
O: robust throughout | deep malt body | good, but could use some age (my fault!)

16oz can from Tavour. Clear amber pour, thin creamy beige head. Malty aroma, caramel, mild sweetness. Taste is bready, malty, toffee, dry. Sweetness fades fast. Abrupt finish.

Can to tulip.
Appearance: milky yellow haziness with a thin cap of a little white head. Dissipated to leave some light lace
Aroma: citrusy, floral and pineapple with a subtle clean grassy hoppy and a clean cracker malt
Flavor: bittersweet juiciness through the prior mentioned aromas, slight aftertaste of juicy pineapple and floral hop tones
Texture: medium bodied, leaning towards being a sipper, fairly smooth, semi-creamy on the tongue, finishes floral and pineapple-y in a creamy smooth sort of way
Overall: very nicely done NEIPA well worthy of coming back to.

Can to snifter.
Appearance: burnt yellow to orange haziness, small cap of a little white foamy head and dissipated inward and left some sly concave lace on the sides.
Aroma: mangoes - yes, coconut - yes, vanilla - yes, granola - seems more of an ever so slight afterthought, sweet creamy/lactose backing
Flavor: mostly sweet through the prior mentioned aromas, touch of tart character through the mangoes, mild aftertaste of coconut, mango and vanilla
Texture: medium bodied, between sessionable and being a sipper, low carb, extremely smooth on the finish
Overall: I like this pastry sour ale, it would be a great starter sour for those new to sour ales as there's barely any true sour character throughout the entire beer.

Overall: a stunning NEDIPA extremely worthy of returning to!

Can to tulip.
Appearance: milky looking glossy yellow color with a one finger white foamy head that slid off nicely and left a little bit of messy lace
Aroma: passion fruit, citrusy and sweet grassy hops with a kind creamy/vanilla-like backing.
Flavor: takes the previously mentioned aromas and blends sweetly with a subtle sour to tart vibe; aftertaste of passion fruit, citrus and cream/lactose
Texture: medium bodied, showing some signs of being sessionable; fairly creamy along my tongue; finishes with some nutty to creamy tones and a light passion fruity tone
Overall: I'd say a pretty nicely done sour IPA or pastry IPA - some kind of blend, I guess. It's one to come back to.

Can to snifter.
Appearance: black in color; one finger khaki foamy head slid off at a low key pace and left some light concave lace
Aroma: authentic coconuts; milk chocolate sweet smoothness, sly tone of coffee roast, clipped beads of dark chocolate and super subtle whiff of dark bread
Flavor: blends all the prior mentioned aromas together sweetly and backed up by a semi-roasty coffee character; mellow aftertaste of coconuts and coffee
Texture: medium bodied with a good sipping quality about it; semi-smooth along tongue; finishes smooth with the coconuts, chocolate and roast
Overall: I haven't lost my coconuts yet doing these beer reviews for as long as I have and this is a very worthy beer of coming back to.
*and no suntan lotion was hurt in the process of making this beer *insert winking emoji here
