San Juan del Sur Cervecería, Avenida Mercado, San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua
Description
While traveling together on a number of surfing trips to Nicaragua during their college years, longtime friends and craft beer lovers Brendan DeBlois and Matt Greenberg recognized a dire need for freshly made craft beer in the “land of lakes and volcanoes.” The idea was hatched to bring craft beer to Nicaragua by building a brewpub in Nicaragua’s most famous beach town, San Juan del Sur. After leaving behind jobs in the U.S., they brought on board a third partner, Bobby Hottensen, and together worked on fine tuning a business plan. With the help of friends at Cisco Brewers in Nantucket, MA., Brendan worked alongside award-winning Brewmaster Jeff Hormer to create the recipes for “The Boom” IPA, “Nicarao” wheat beer, and “Popoyo” passion fruit ale. In early 2013, Brendan, Matt and Bobby moved down to Nicaragua to pursue the dream.

Short stubby yellow pony can from vintage for $2. Pour is fairly clear yellow with a big white fading head. Odd old hop and citrus nose. Somewhat creamy co2 on the uptake. Taste is not real hoppy and its almost refreshing. Goes down fairly easy with a finish that has an almost sweet volatile effect. Decent, but not excited. With these 8oz cans, its over before you know it, I should have bot 2.

Orange, lemon, biscuit malt, and grass aroma. Cloudy golden yellow with large white head. Moderately sweet citrus, biscuit malt, and mildly bitter grass flavor. Good body. Pretty darn good - one of the best Central American beers I've had.
