Description
Our name, Almanac, refers to the Farmer’s Almanac, a seasonality reference guide for farmers that has been published every year in the U.S. since 1818. Our motto, “Farm to Barrel”, was adopted to reflect our passion for brewing bold and sustainably sourced beers. Farm-to-barrel brewing is about selecting the best in sustainably sourced ingredients and using them to create beers inspired by the great brewing traditions of the world. We aim to create something uniquely Northern Californian.

Almanac was founded in 2010 by Damian Fagan and Jesse Friedman, two avid home-brewers who bonded over their mutual appreciation for California farmers markets. They set out to brew beers inspired by California’s rich agricultural bounty. After nearly seven years of partner brewing, we moved into our very own 30,000 square-foot production & aging facility located on a historic naval airbase on Alameda Island in San Francisco Bay.

Can from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours lightly hazy gold with a moderate white head. Aroma is citrus and something herbal. Med body. Flavor is kind of lemon/lime with rosemary notes. Very different in flavor for me - but not obnoxiously so. Pretty good really. Somewhat juicy, not really sweet and moderately bitter. Good drink when the brain relaxes the analysis.

Can from Corti Bros. Pours light, clear gold with a decent creamy white head that attempted to lace down. Aroma is sort of musty/funky. Near med body. Flavor is musty/funky/citrusy in a moderate way. Fairly dry. Not bitter, but something like bitter. Interesting but mild flavor. Tho a flavor that refuses to be ignored.

Teku showing translucent pale gold with sparse white foam.

The nose shows moderately intense notes of an pineapple and grapefruit.

The palate is well carbonated and medium bodied. Pineapple forward but dry, balanced malt mid palate with a light pine bitterness on the finish.

Can from Total Wine in Folsom, CA. Pours clear, bright gold with a creamy, tho transient, white head. Aroma is citrus/pine with mixed fruits. Med body. Dry and bitter, tho rather fruity. There's pine/citrus, earth, papaya and arguably some pale stone. Very nice flavor.
