Almanac was founded in 2010 by Damian Fagan and Jesse Friedman, two avid home-brewers who bonded over their mutual appreciation for California farmers markets. They set out to brew beers inspired by California’s rich agricultural bounty. After nearly seven years of partner brewing, we moved into our very own 30,000 square-foot production & aging facility located on a historic naval airbase on Alameda Island in San Francisco Bay.

750ml (thx, Phill!) @ Salesforce. Appearance: hazy copper with a white head. Aroma: raspberries, acidity, oak, some Brett and vanilla. Taste: along the same lines, quite acidic, still lots of raspberries, noticeable vanilla. Overall: still way too acidic for me.

Poured from 750mL bottle (bottled Autumn 2016). Hazy amber brown with minimal white head. Raspberry, mellowed tartness, feint vanilla, very feint vinous quality, quite nice.

2016 vintage. 750mL bottle, pours a hazy orange amber with a small beige head. Nose is full of musty red grape skins, moderate acidity, oak, and a touch of vanilla. Flavour is moderately acidic, with lots of complex red grape skins, oak, wild yeast, and a hint of vanilla. I wonder how much less acidic this is now. Regardless, this has nice depth and complexity. Excellent.

Can from The Davis Beer Shoppe. It gushed a bit. Pours gold with a foamy white head that found it difficult to persist, tho it did lace. Aroma of peach and berry. Med body. Dry and bitter but berry fruity with peach. Could be some citrus. Simple but hard to parse. Nice flavor.

Can at home. Bonus points for the label. Clear pale yellow-golden color, small white head. Aroma is hoppy with notes of melon, light citrus, peach. Flavor is very lightly malty, melon, soft peach again, lightly bitter. Light body, fairly thin texture with a somewhat oily note as well, fairly low carbonation. Okay beer, I love the aroma but the flavor lacks depth, also imo not enough malt base which also results in a fairly thin body I think.

Can from Total Wine in Vacaville, CA. Pours light gold with a moderate creamy white head. Aroma of passion fruit and some floral. Near med body. Flavor is passion fruit with something else that could be pineapple. Fairly dry. Somewhat juicy. Sour/bitter rather than just bitter. Quite good flavor.

Can from Total Wine in Vacaville, CA. Pours clear dark brown with a large, but transient, dark tan head. Aroma has dark roast malt with definite coffee. Med body or so. Flavor is dark roast malt with a lot of coffee and some chocolate. Fairly dry but not very bitter - xpt from coffee I think. Smooth finish.
