250mls at Yona, pours a clear gold with some creamy, white head. Nose has tropical fruits, perfume, some fresh cream, guava, papaya. Flavor has honey, some orange curd, then the rest. Perfumey and doesn't hit you over the head. Finishes soft. Very drinkable. 7 4 7 4 13

About 250mls at the Yona Yona beer works, pours an opaque amber with a wisp of white head. Nose has malt, toffee, leather, some HP sauce, booze. Flavor is real barleywine off the top, malt, caramel, toffee, booze, leather, orange rind. Finishes full bodied, a little booze burn but not as sweet as I was worried it would be. 7 2 8 3 13

On tap in Kanda, pours a clear gold, sticky white head. Nose has malt, grist, grains, perfume. Flavor has grist, honey, perfume. Finishes crisp. Blonde ale. 6 4 6 3 11

Light amber color. Light funky nose with caramel and apricot and grapefruit in the nose. Medium body, a bit more malty than expected. Everything is a bit restrained. Still not a bad beer, but pretty middle of the road.

Can. Malty aroma and taste, roastyness, cocoa, smoked sausage notes, medium to high bitter. Medium body, malty roasty bitter finish. Good.

medium brown color. Big carbonation, malty with nice chocolate and roasted tea character. Modest depth. I didn’t have high hopes this at least met or exceeded those expectations

I was out in Karuizawa and hadn’t had this beer in a very long time. A restraint had it on tap so I decided to give it a go. It was very fresh and in great shape. Wow. This was crisp clean balanced, with nice pineapple, apple and citrus notes. Medium bitterness. Super well balanced. A great little beer and freshness definitely helped this baby out.

As it’s Stout Day I dug this out of my cellar as it’s one of the few stouts I’ve got on hand. Last year Yo Ho expanded their BA range from barleywines to imperial stouts Yo Ho Barrel Aged Imperial Stout 12% Deep black with ruby highlights and a thin tan head this beer has got a seriously oaky savory soy and some alcohol heat. Full bodied and velvety smooth with soy, molasses, umami and oaky with a nice warming heat in the pit of my stomach with maple in the finish. Nice stuff.
