Basically the same as Bells Pale. Pours cloudy yellow-orange, with a thin white head. There is quite a bit of small particulate matter floating in the ale (much like the pale ale). Flavor is dominated by hops and the characteristic yeasty mustiness (this isn't a bad thing) found in both this and Bells Pale. Overall a toned-down version of the Pale, and rated accordingly.

My goodness! Like a coffee ice cream float. Great coffee aroma - sweetness to start, very creamy and smooth, thick - then a slight bitterness to balance it out, with extreme coffee flavor - like a chocolate malt as a beer - this is one of the best stouts I've had in a while.

Whoa! This is a pretty extreme barleywine. Dark ruby, with huge floaties - very sweet and malty aroma - flavor is agressively hoppy, like many west coast barleywines, and the sweetness the beer brings is not cloying, like many extremely sweet ones - flavor is very complex - chocolate, plums, raisins, caramel, and lots of other flavors I can’t identify right now - thick and rich - a king among barleywines - kalamazoo may yet make my trip to the midwest worthwhile.

(Had several more times over the years - it’s a dang good IPA, but there are plenty of better ones out there) Cloudy golden color, high carbonation, small but creamy head - citrus and hops in the aroma in abundance - flavor is very woody, with heaping helpings of various hop varieties that coat the tongue much in the way malts would do in a sweeter beer (it’s an odd sensation, but enjoyable) - great hop finish, not overly bitter, with some hints of cedar - this is an excellent IPA

Pours orange, chock full (almost choked with) dark sediment. Floral aroma followed by a floral, hoppy flavor. Not very strong, however, and finishes with a bitter aftertaste.

Replacing an earlier review of Bells Beer. This is its "Lager of the Lakes" incarnation. Slightly hazy straw-colored body, thin off-white head. Grassy aroma with biscuit and hints of lemon. A touch sharp. Grassy, bitter hops make a strong impression on the palate, dominating the light, biscuity malt. Not quite as interesting as I remembered it, but my palate has certainly changed over the past three years.

Pours a foggy darker yellow color with a medium white head. Aroma of yeast and light hops. Light bodied with flavors of hops and fruit but not in big doses. Finish is crisp and progressively bitter throughout the glass. I found this to be a little mundane but it was not too bad.

I have to say I was a little disappointed in this beer, especially after being so impressed by most of the other Bell's brews I have tried. Pours an almost sickly looking light orange color with a thin and foamy white head. Very floral hops aroma, with light citrus notes as well. Flavor is mild, with perfumy hops and light malt. Finish is crisp and light, with a nice hops presense lingering. Okay, but gimme an Expedition next time.

Coffee and beer swirled in sanctimonious splendor? Indeed. Stout and java are the perfect match, and Bells has crafted a tasty brew combining the best of two camps of cherished beverage. I feel much as I do about Rogue Chocolate Stout- the flavor here is, by its very nature, powerful but not complex, yet this is not a fault of this specialist's ale. Jump for java!

Haven't had the Bells Amber since the old days in Albion...a nice amber ale, with rich malty flavors nicely balanced by a bit of hops. I have to admit my heart sank when one of the bottles was flat, but the others came through for me. A solid beer, but not my favorite Bells beer by any means.
