Pours a lightly hazy, pale golden yellow, with big, thick head. Aroma has a lot of tropical fruit notes, some citrus, some bread. Flavors are a bit more toned-down, but with tropical fruit and bread predominant. Clean, crisp mouthfeel. Mild levels of hop bitterness in the finish.

12 ounce can. Number one with a bullet. Honey gold pour. Rocky beige head. Piney hop aroma. Flavor is biscuity malt and resiny pine. Peppery hops in middle. Some booziness as well. Dry, pithy notes on backend hint at white grapefruit.

Bottle from Livonia Liquor. Pours a clearish pink gold with a finger of off-white head that lingers. Lovely raspberry focused nose with notes of wheat as it warms. More raspberry skin and fruit on the palate. Finish leans dry. Better than regular Oberon.

16oz can. Pretty solid - weird drinking a spin off on a once iconic beer. there was a time Hopslam was the GOAT. Still pretty darn good

Lots of points for balance, but (I can’t believe I am saying this) nothing striking me as special here. The nose features juicy citrus hops, a touch of dankness and mild malts. Undertated though. The taste profile follows from the nose with mild fruity hops, classic soft malts, a smooth body and a nice dry finish.

For me, the Bell’s Brewing Hop Slam had trouble living up to its vaunted RateBeer rating. The nose featured a classic soft malt and fruit nose. The hops were understated for a DIPA, with floral elements, pineapple and grapefruit. A nice balance but a bit thin on impact, body and follow through.

Draft at Orange & Brew. Clean but slightly hazy gold with a blush of pink. Foam head that leaves nice lace behind. Smell is just a light, agreeable whiff of raspberry. Taste is the also agreeable combo of a lightly malted beer, light wheat, and then a raspberry background.
