Description
Twisted Barrel Ale exploded onto the Coventry beer scene on 29th March 2014.
After months of hard work developing a small selection of beers that would appeal to Coventry's patrons thirsting for our unique mix of modern and classical styles and methods we launched our beers at Coventry's number 1 bottle bar, Inspire, and it was a huge success. Originally brewing on a 60 litre kit, we described ourselves as 'the UK's first Pico-brewery'.
20th June 2015 and we held another launch. This time in our brand new Brewery and Tap House at FarGo Village. With a new 1000 litre brewing kit and an entirely new brand design from Stewart Easton, we've finally become the brewery we always set out to be. Almost 2 years later we transferred our bar and brewing kit into a space about 5 times larger than before, we're still serving the best beer at FarGo Village.

On tap at Arkwright's, Belper, Sunday 12th October 2025 in the company of Dad and Pauline, we're listening to the music upstairs this afternoon and the two acts so far are very good. This pours gold with a nice slim white head. Clean, crisp, fresh pleasant easy drinking beer, with a nice light citrussy streak, I guess mostly pink grapefruit throughout, light bitterness, like it.

Panda thanks to Wingman . Near opaque dark brown beer, small and short lived bubbly dark tan head. Lots of cocoa on the snoz. Airy smooth palate, semi dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. Slightly thin bodied dark malts. Much cocoa, touch of brown sugar, some mild esters. Not that sweet. Light crisp finish. Inoffensive but really not doing much of anything for me.

Panda at home, thanks to the Wingmane, 27/07/2025.
Pitch black topped with a tan head that thins to a swirl.
Nose is chocolate, dark malts, spice, molasses, faint vanilla, toasted brown sugars.
Taste comprises chocolate shavings, dried fruit rinds, spice, vanilla, molasses, faint tobacco.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a light rising boost.
Okay sipper but lacks depth and expected more for a 10th birthday celebration.
