Feb 2008: from BA. You’re Welsh and you know you are! Clear 500ml bottle, poured into a straight sided sleeve pint glass. Light, pale golden in colour with not much head to start with, no head after about a minute. Clear and lager like, without the bubbles rising through the body. What smell? A hint of yeast, a fart of hops? Srangely it also has a sweet aroma to it, but can’t put my mind to what it is. Oh dear, not a lot going for this beer, dry tasting and boring. The label claims it is refeshingly hoppy, well I can’t find any hoppiness at all. Target hops in the brew, late hopped with Cascade and Styrian Goldings, again according to the label. Fizzy and uninteresting, this is a nothing beer and i can’t think what the brewer is trying to do here. The normal SA is a wonderful beer, this is far from that. If this is a typical American Blonde Ale (which I doubt) I’ll not be having another one in this life.

500ml bottle. Pours dark orange with a medium head. Aroma is caramel malt, bread and dried fruits. Taste is bready throughout with dried fruit and a bitter finish.

Bottle at home in London. Pours red-brown with a frothy, beige head. Some lacto notes in the nose and very modest roast. Lightly sweet flavor, lightly roasty, some dark sugar, faint dirt and minerals, mild cocoa. Light bodied with average carbonation. Lightly sweet to finish, slightly dry, with a bit of milk chocolate, baking cocoa, modest roasted malts, some burnt wood, light earth. Pretty bland overall, though not offensive.

Oct 2009: Clear 500ml bottle poured into a normal UK sleeved pint glass. The beer was a reddy, amber colour, clear and clean looking. On top sat a bubbly head, off-white almost a cream colour. The aroma was of hops and yeast with a hint of caramels and molasses. Challenger, Goldings and Fuggles are all used in the brew, the blend of thses hops produces a well balanced and pleasant tasting beer. There is an overiding mini sweetness throughout the drink, the aroma starts it off and the aftertaste reminds you. I very drinkable beer, even better when on cask and kept well.

March 2011: Lovely mid-amber colour with a creamy head (both in colour and texture) that produced some good lacing. Rye crystal and malted oats gives it the colour and aroma, challenger and Goldings give it the bitterness. Easy to drink and very, very smooth. Most likely the best beer tasted during the session at a Wetherspoons Beer Fest.
