Description
Fort George Brewery + Public House sits on the original settlement site of Fort Astoria, founded in 1811. The oldest US settlement west of the Rockies, Fort Astoria was the Pacific Fur Company's primary trading post in the Northwest. Fort George opened its doors to Astoria as both a brewery and a public house, and that desire to serve the community continues to this day. The brewers and pub staff here share a common goal, to create a welcoming space where anyone in town can pull up a stool and enjoy a pint and a bite to eat. We take pride in our house-made offerings and our hospitality, and we’re always looking for improvements that bring us one step closer to perfection. It’s a goal Sisyphus could appreciate, even if he doesn’t have as much fun pushing that rock as we do rolling those kegs. And that’s why we like to call Fort George beer the best beer you’ve had today. Tomorrow it will only be better.

Draft at Here's How. Clear golden pour, thin but persistent white foamy head, solid lacing. Aroma is fruity, sweet, orchard fruit. Taste is sweet, fruity, light profile with a little bit of dryness at the finish.

16.9 oz. bottle, pours jet black with a small brown head. Aroma is rich, with intense bourbon barrels, vanilla beans, and a bit of the pistachios. Flavour is rich and complex, with intense bourbon and vanilla beans, accentuated with pistachios and beautiful dark sugars. Plenty of bourbon and vanilla, with just enough of the nuts. Beauty.

Draft at the Handlebar. Near black pour, tiny ring of bubbles around the rim. Aroma is sweet, marshmallow, roasty malts. Not picking up much peanut in the taste , roasty, chocolate and heaps of marshmallow. Maybe shake the keg a bit? Slippery, slick feel, and really sweet.

Aroma has notes of peach rings, pine, mango Mambas. Taste has a high pithy bitterness, finishing dry, with tropical and piney hop flavors. Not nearly as good as Bodhi by itself. It’s been awhile since I’ve had Vortex, so I can’t compare that one. Interesting experiment, though.

500ml @ 🏡
Aroma: toasted American oak, chocolate, some roasted malt and molasses.
Taste: along the same lines, full-bodied, low to moderately sweet. Finishes with a nice touch of toasted oak.
Overall: good one.

16oz can from Boise Co-op. Hazy yellow pour, fine foamy head lasts for a bit. Light citrusy aroma, grapefruit. Taste is soft, juicy grapefruit, light zestiness at the finish. So creamy, it almost tastes like it has lactose. So smooth, so delicious.

16.9 oz. bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is fairly hot, with plenty of hot bourbon barrels, dark sugars, and molasses. Flavour has a bit of a hot, with some low-moderate quality bourbon barrels, dark sugars, and some roast. The barrel quality really drags this down, despite the base beer blend being good. It’s good, but ultimately subpar due to the barrels.
