Description
Fort George Brewery + Public House sits on the original settlement site of Fort Astoria, founded in 1811. The oldest US settlement west of the Rockies, Fort Astoria was the Pacific Fur Company's primary trading post in the Northwest. Fort George opened its doors to Astoria as both a brewery and a public house, and that desire to serve the community continues to this day. The brewers and pub staff here share a common goal, to create a welcoming space where anyone in town can pull up a stool and enjoy a pint and a bite to eat. We take pride in our house-made offerings and our hospitality, and we’re always looking for improvements that bring us one step closer to perfection. It’s a goal Sisyphus could appreciate, even if he doesn’t have as much fun pushing that rock as we do rolling those kegs. And that’s why we like to call Fort George beer the best beer you’ve had today. Tomorrow it will only be better.

Can from Tavour. Pours clear, bright gold with a nice white head. Aroma tea and arguably rice. Near med body. Flavor is tea with rice and a little bready malt support. Towards dry. Black tea bitterness. Different and refreshing.

16 ounce can from Tavour. Opaque black pour. Rocky tan head. Roasted malt aroma hints at dark chocolate and molasses. Flavor mirrors nose. Notes of bittersweet chocolate, sticky molasses and dark dried fruits. Some warming alcohol on backend. Smooth mouthfeel. Bittersweet hoppy finish.

16oz can from Brewers Haven. Bright, clear golden pour, small tight white head, some lacing. Aroma is hoppy, resinous, pine. Taste brings in some light citrus which fits with the hoppiness, but it is the resiny character that dominated the brew.

Dense, oily, frothed, worn leather, default short pour at Good Karma. Was just about to pay up but the bartender convinced me to try this one out.

Chocolate, bourbon-light. Tiny bit of acidity to cut it. Big & lingering maple finish. I had to be told it was vanilla. Incredibly dense chocolate & booze flavors.
Body though is very thin, frothy & decently carved.

Lovely in tiny doses. A struggle otherwise.

Aroma is catty, peachy, dank, orange creamsicle, tangerine, guava, B.O. Taste is highly bitter with minimal malt sweetness. Goes down really easy.

500mL bottle, pours jet black with a small beige head. Aroma has rich bourbon barrels, vanilla, maybe a bit of cocoa, not much of the pistachio and cinnamon. Flavour is very rich, yet balanced, with big bourbon barrels and vanilla beans, gentle cocoa, and again no real notice of the cinnamon or nuts. Great bourbon expression, not too sweet, and everything is balanced. Excellent.

On tap at MBCC 2025 (Yellow session), pours an opaque milky yellow with a small white head. Aroma has lots of chalky notes, not much else. Flavour is egregiously chalky, with tons of hopburn, not much else. Really crappy hazy.
