Description
Fort George Brewery + Public House sits on the original settlement site of Fort Astoria, founded in 1811. The oldest US settlement west of the Rockies, Fort Astoria was the Pacific Fur Company's primary trading post in the Northwest. Fort George opened its doors to Astoria as both a brewery and a public house, and that desire to serve the community continues to this day. The brewers and pub staff here share a common goal, to create a welcoming space where anyone in town can pull up a stool and enjoy a pint and a bite to eat. We take pride in our house-made offerings and our hospitality, and we’re always looking for improvements that bring us one step closer to perfection. It’s a goal Sisyphus could appreciate, even if he doesn’t have as much fun pushing that rock as we do rolling those kegs. And that’s why we like to call Fort George beer the best beer you’ve had today. Tomorrow it will only be better.

Can from Corti Bros. Pours dark brn/blk with a transient dark tan smear. Aroma of burnt/dark malt, bourbon and a bit of peach. Full bodied. Somewhat sticky. It is far from dry. Not very bitter. Flavor is bourbon, peaches, dark malt and a surprisingly light amount of heat. Also vanilla. Peaches struggle to the front, but succeed. A bit daunting at first, but it settles down to something quite pleasant with a bit of time.

From Good Times Oakland, canned December 9th 2025.

Pours a hazy yellow with an initial big head of foam, shrinks quickly but overall retention is good. Lacing is good as well.

The smell is grapefruit, orange zest, pineapple, quite fruity in general.

The taste is grapefruit, orange zest, sweet pineapple, some dank notes. Quite typical of the style.

Medium bodied with lightish carbonation.

I would not bother drinking this again. That's just me.

On tap at Chuck’s Seward Park, pours a lightly hazed blonde with a small white head. Aroma is dank and tangy, with lots of piney hops, tangy white wine notes from the Nelson, moderate pot-like dankness, and a crisp biscuity malt. Flavour is bright and assertive, with potent dank hops, plenty of pine, some white wine tanginess, and a crisp biscuity malt underside. Dank, piney, tangy, bitter finish. Elite westie.

On tap at Chuck’s Greenwood, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma has soft toasted malt, earthiness, and some dry breadiness. Flavour is dry, with dry, hearty oats, and toasted malt. Not much malt depth but clean and inoffensive. It’s okay.

I doubt it was 2024, but it was a WC IPA 3-Way with Brujos and Ghost Town. Gold colour, bright, no head. Minty, herbaceous hop nose, lots of bitterness, clean balanced malt, some berry notes.
