Description
Emile Vanhonsebrouck and his wife Louise De Poorter founded the Sint Jozef brewery in Ingelmunster. In 1922 the brothers Paul and Ernest Van Honsebrouck take over the brewery from their mother. In 1953 Luc Van Honsebrouck (son of Paul) becomes director. Luc realizes that the small Sint Jozef brewery isn't able to compete with the large pils breweries. He therefore decides to concentrate on the production of an old brown beer, naming it Bacchus, and he changes the name of the brewery to Vanhonsebrouck. The St-Louis Gueuze and Kriek were officially launched in 1958. In 2009 Xavier Vanhonsebrouck succeeds his father Luc. In 2016 the doors of the old brewery in Ingelmunster are permanently closed. The new site in Emelgem is now home to a brand new, fully integrated brewery, with the equipment to produce all of the Vanhonsebrouck beers. In the meantime Kasteel Brouwerij Vanhonsebrouck becomes the new official name.

500ml draft at the Golden Bar in Brussels, Belgium. Pours a clear, very dark ruby red color with an off-white head and decent retention. Decent lacing. Fruity aroma. Very sweet, fruity flavor too, with not much beer flavor. Tastes more like a cider than a fruit beer. More body than a cider. The 8.0% ABV is invisible. Low carbonation. Zero bitterness. Tasty, but I wouldn't want more than one.

Pour is a cloudy yellow with a large white head. Aroma is a nice lemon and ginger like the can says. Flavor is more lemon and white malt with some coriander spice in there. Mouth feel is creamy with some of the coriander left on the tongue as this goes down. This was a pretty good wit.

Bottle, medium bubbly frothy head, clear darkish yellow colour, aroma of grapefruit, passion fruit, pineapple, 8candy and a bit of yeastiness in flavor, hint of bitterness, quite sweet, almost sickly, and the flavor feels especially artificial.

Bottle to pokal.
Appearance: dark brown to subtle purple color with a less than a quarter finger of pink foamy head which dissipated into oblivion and didn't leave any lace
Aroma: some sweet and tart raspberries with a light undertone of lemony sweet to tart character and a subtle acidic tone
Flavor: meshes the prior noted aromas to a fine sweet to tart quality; finishes the same way with a slight pucker
Texture: light to medium bodied, somewhat sessionable; some smoothness but also coming with a light tart tone to it
Overall: I say this is a pretty nice Lambic I could return to.

From Beer Drop, canned dating or best by dating is not decipherable by me.

Pours a clear crimson red with a pinkish head of foam, great retention and lacing.

The smell is mostly sweet raspberry aromas but I note some raspberry tartness with a hint of lemon.

The taste is sweet and tart raspberry, some notes of lemon, very fresh fruits notes through and through. Not much bitterness here that I can detect.

Juicy medium ish mouthfeel, I would drink this again.
