Description
Emile Vanhonsebrouck and his wife Louise De Poorter founded the Sint Jozef brewery in Ingelmunster. In 1922 the brothers Paul and Ernest Van Honsebrouck take over the brewery from their mother. In 1953 Luc Van Honsebrouck (son of Paul) becomes director. Luc realizes that the small Sint Jozef brewery isn't able to compete with the large pils breweries. He therefore decides to concentrate on the production of an old brown beer, naming it Bacchus, and he changes the name of the brewery to Vanhonsebrouck. The St-Louis Gueuze and Kriek were officially launched in 1958. In 2009 Xavier Vanhonsebrouck succeeds his father Luc. In 2016 the doors of the old brewery in Ingelmunster are permanently closed. The new site in Emelgem is now home to a brand new, fully integrated brewery, with the equipment to produce all of the Vanhonsebrouck beers. In the meantime Kasteel Brouwerij Vanhonsebrouck becomes the new official name.

0.33l can from Drinkshop.sk. Aroma of passion fruit, pineapple and stone fruit. Pours clear pale golden color with thin soapy white head and soft visible carbonation. Taste starts with sweet pineapple, a bit refreshing mango and even sweeter malt, mouthfeel is smooth, while finish is very mild bitter. Medium body, oily texture and soft carbonation in palate. Sweet tropicalia…

Dark ruby-red beer under a huge, pale pink, very dense and lacey head. Sweet smell, artificially aromatic, childrens' raspberry gums, Jell-o. Sweet, with a condensed raspberry flavour, no doubt raspberry concentrate rewatered. I get some wheat as well. Finish sports some acidity - citric-like. Faint acidburn, disguising syrupy feel, especially backthroat. Good carbonation. Gawdelpus.

Ruby tinged brown with a light tan head and a cherry and chocolate malt aroma. Fresh and fruity, some brown sugar and almond, dark malt underneath and a slightly tart bitterness.

330 ml bottle, from Dutchshopper. ABV is 7%. Clear and pale golden colour, large white head. Aroma of passionfruit and other tropical fruits. Sweet and artificial flavour of some "tropical fruit" essence. Here we have a good and traditional brewery, apparently trying to be fashionable, and failing miserably. Won't be buying this beer again, that's for sure. .

330ml bottle from a local supermarket. Deep red appearance. Good deep cherry flavour, perhaps even be better than the original in that it's less sickly sweet and rich, much more balance and drinkability to this without coming across like an alcohol free beer.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Blonde colour, large white head. Aroma and flavour of Belgian ale yeast, mild spices, alcohol and fairly distinct hops, reasonably bitter finish. A certain "sting" of alcohol (8.5%) and bittering hops only make the beer moreish. Will gladly have again.

Sommeravslutning på Mi2 Cardinal juni-26, og seremonimester Melberg klinker til allerede i det vi forlater startblokkene med denne gode og farlig lettdrikkelige belgiske røveren. Klar lys gylden med fiunt skum som varer. Moden citrus, krydret belgisk gjær, litt banan og humle. Topp stemning allerede etter 10 minutter.
