Nice off-white head atop a cloudy, amber bodyl. Aroma is filled with grapefruit. and grapefruit peel with a hint of sweet malt. The taste buds get a dose of grapefruit, though not as big a dose as expected from the nose, followed by orange with a light dusting of caramel. Dry, bitter finish. The palate is clean with a bit of stickiness to the bitter, resinous hops. Moderate carbonation.

This is excellent for an American Wheat, and should probably be called a hefeweizen. It is cloudy yellow; and looked like egg yolk in the glass when the sediment was poured in. Aroma has citrus and coriander as well as very light banana. Flavor is of a medium-quality hefeweizen. Sweet wheat, citrus and other fruit as well. Light and refreshing; good on a warm day without the thickness of the best hefeweizens. An unexpected find.

Pours light amber into a shaker. Microbubble head with good retention and slight lacing as it recedes. Strong pine and citrus notes. Medium, soft palate with sweet malt up front and turns grapefruit (but not over-the-top) for the finish.

On Draft - Tampa Bay Brewing Company. Poured out clear yellow color with small white head. The smell is on the light side and consists mostly of citrus hops such as a Cascade-type. The flavor certainly balanced toward the citrus hop flavor and bitterness. Nice strong level of hop presence with this high of a gravity beer. If you’re a hop head you won’t be disappointed.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a ruby chestnut color with a medium sized tan head. The aroma is caramel and light fruity hops. The flavor is sour and nutty with a caramel element and a strong fruity hop presence. The finish is long and bitter.

bottle - Poured black with a thin, disappearing head. The roast malt aroma is typical for the style but good. The flavor was of course mainly of roast malts with some coffee notes and a mildly hoppy finish. The medium body did not seem terribly watery to me, but it could have been a bit thicker. This beer was quite drinkable. It just seemed quite average or a little below for a porter though.

bottle - Pours light brown with a medium, dissipating head. The very nice aroma is of flowery and piney hops. The flavor is of these same hops and malt that’s so light it just ends up lacking in taste and balance. The palate is disappointingly watery and the finish crisp. I let it warm up for a little bit to see if that helped bring out the flavor. It didn’t. It’s certainly drinkable, but I’ve never had a beer that smells this good and then delivers so poorly. Overrated.

Strong and earthy. The hop aroma is pretty forward with definite grapefruit notes. Alcohols are there too. Sweet dark fruity malts are apparent, with a slight caramel-raisin character. There’s a weird, dark earthiness to the finish, that when mixed with the alcoholic finish, detracts from the overall quality.

Dark reddish hazy brown with a thin light moka head. Aroma of good c-hops, and fruity esters, with predominant prunes and vinoues notes. In mouth, not too sweet, light nutty malt, with a good dose of c-hops. Now, would the secret spices be coriander and cinnamon? Nice!

Draught at Rose and Raindrop, Portland. Clear nut brown. Grassy lemon juice aroma. Somewhat syrupy and vinous with thick mouthfeel. Creates a sweet/sour sensation that I’m not terribly sure I like.
