Draft. A- Malty, caramel, dry, roasty. A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, off white head. T- Roasty, malty, watery. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, roasty finish. O- Mediocre. This Boulder Beer/Old Chicago relationship has never been a great one in my opinion. This is yet another result of making alright beers at best.

Draft. A- Citrus, peaches, slightly bitterness, wheat, honey. A- Golden color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Peaches, citrus, slight bitterness, wheat, grains. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, smooth finish. O- Very refreshing. I don’t really like much that Boulder Beer does but this one was pretty solid. Not a ton going on but for a Blond Ale, it had some nice juicy notes and a little bitterness to add to it.

Pours clear amber , good white head . Smell is thick , rich and sweet . Taste is grainy , touch of bitter , sweet ambermalts . Ambermalts build up quite much . Bit too boozy though

On draft at Mad Fox Barleywine Festival 2015. Pours a hazy deep copper with an ecru head. Aroma of tropical fruit. Flavors of pineapple and caramel. Smooth, boozy finish.

Gorgeous clear red coloured brew with a firm and steady head of foam with great lacing.
Biggest nose of bitter pine that I can recall having. .maybe ever. No malt.
A smidgen of caramel malt sweet is first but it is quickly overwhelmed by this HUGE pine bitterness that I find too much for my palate to handle. Horizon hops are mentioned on the label. Perhaps I should avoid beers using them in the future?
Medium body with medium carbonation.
I was hoping that the hops used would be to my liking but they are not. No revisits planned.

Bottle @ home picked up at Supermarket Foco in a mixer sixer. Pours a dull orangish brown appearance with a light tan head. Pine, herbs, leaves, grass, and a hint of citrus in the nose. Medium full body. The flavor is bitter piney hops and caramel with a little soap. Ehhh, ok.

Pours very dark brown. Small white head. Smell is pure chocolate indeed. Taste is pure chocolate, sweet with a bitter touch. Good mouthfeel, perfect carbo. Ending is pure chocolate powder. Lovely beer!

Flavor: The flavor is along the same lines, roasty, not very sweet, and with a good bitterness
Palate: The body is medium-plus, fairly smooth, with a carbonation, and a dry finish

Barley wine bottle share on 1/31. Dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma is a strange caramel and hop mix. Flavor of caramel, raisois and a little hops.

Overall Impression: First beer of February comes on Super Bowl Sunday and is an Oktoberfest? Not sure how that happened, but sure. It is a really nice looking beer. The flavor and aroma are solid for sure, but they just don’t totally work for me. Solid beer, but just not my thing.
