Bottle. Gold with a fading white head. Aroma of hay, spices, a little peach, lemon. Lightish-bodied but mouthfilling, quite lively carbonation. Slightly sweet, quite fruity, firm lemony and spicy bitterness. Dry and a little astringent at the end. Solid drop, smashable with some class.

From a 500ml on 2/10/2013. Pours a cloudy golden orange with a massive thick head. Has a strange aroma of basementy yeast and chemicals. The flavour is much better, with some pronounced biscuity malt and quite a bit of fruit (particularly citrus). It finishes with quite a firm, tart bitterness. The body is medium and the carbonation too high. This is a real mixed bag. On the plus side, it’s incredibly full flavoured for something that’s just 3.6%. But there are aspects which take away from the enjoyment, such as weird nose and excessive carbonation.

From a 500ml bottle on 1/10/2013. pours a cloudy straw colour with a small head. Has a slightly odd pungest, yeasty aroma with some citrus notes. Flavour wise, it’s a touch tart with lemon, a fair bit of apple cider, and a bit of cordial in the mix. Has a fullish body and modest carbonation. I’m not sure why this has been classified as a pale lager, though I’m not sure what it’s meant to be. Just kinda weird, and doesn’t really work for me.

First rating (same day as the rerate).Draught at Forrest Brewing Company, Forrest, on August 2, 2013.Clear brown color, tan head. Toffee, butterscotch, sweet taste. Toffee aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel, low bitterness. Sweet, toffee, berry scent. The brewer mentioned to me that he intentionally left the butterscotch in the kegs, so I bought a bottle to bring with me and try later that night to see ow I liked it when the butterscotch was not present any longer.7/4/8/4/15=3.8Rerate (same day as the first rating).Bottled 50 cl from Forrest Brewing Company, Forrest, on August 2, 2013.Hazy copper color, big yellow head with lacing. A frog that sounds like a banjo - just what you need in the quiet of the wetlands. Bottle. Hazy golden amber with a large white head that’s never less than half an inch. Aroma of oranges, lots of strawberries, vanilla, honey, dough, pepper, cloves. Appropriately highish carbonation. Slightly heavier mouthfeel than I’d like, but there’s a balance between sweet, tart and bitter flavours. Less berries and orange than in the aroma and more obvious honey, but even then it’s an accent to the hay and slightly darker malt flavours. Dry, slightly tart and moderately bitter at the end, lingering pepper. A little minerally at the end too, which is less welcome. The bitterness creeps up after a while. Pretty good.
