New beer bij Halen Breweries, a beer company connected to Anders and responsible for the Mariënrode range; thanks tderoeck for sharing. Loose and thinnish, open, egg-white, irregular head, hazy ochre-tinged straw blonde robe. Aroma of ripe banana, overripe melon, sugared fruit yoghurt, apple sauce, margarine, camomile tea, rainwater. Fruity onset, strong banana ester, lots of sweet apple, some melon and pineapple, fizzy carb, white-bready malt body with that sweet melon-like fruitiness continuing, camomile-like hop bitterish touch in the end but the sweetness just keeps dominating. Overly sweet Belgian blonde aiming at the larger masses I suppose, but for me it is a no, even if its fruitiness does have a rather distinct character.

Clear pale blond beer, big fizzy creamy white head, unstable, falls down quickly, bit adhesive. Aroma: dirty, very malty, grains, hay, cow fodder, bit oxidized, sweet touch, spicy notes. MF: lively carbon, medium to light body. Taste: bit malty, grains, bit watery, cardboard, bit oxidized, sweet touch. Aftertaste: some banana peel, sweet, some marzipan.

Tripel brewed by Anders for a local Lions Club apparently, steinie bottle from Drinkshall Geenen in Balen. Cobweb-lacing, snow white, mousy, thick head over a lightly hazed, straw blonde beer with warm golden hue. Aroma of ripe pear, white bread, banana, potato mash, meringue, cooked apples, some iron, stewed turnip, soapy coriander seed. Fruity onset, crisp with rather sharp carbonation even for a tripel, clear banana ester along with pear and peach notes, sweetish yet nowhere too cloying; white bread-like, soft maltiness, sweetish with residual sugars on top, bit fluffy and somewhat soapy too, with spicy notes in the end (clear coriander seed) and soft floral hoppiness, followed by the expected warming, gin-like alcohol effect and lingering banana ester sweetness. As cliché as it gets for a Belgian tripel, totally forgettable, quite in contrast with Brueghel’s work after which this Lions Club has named itself – the painter so often (not always justly) associated with the ‘Burgundian’ way of life in Flanders deserves a whole lot better than just another run-of-the-mill, soulless tripel, though admittedly it is free of technical flaws.

02/09/2019 @home - 33cl bottle from Willems & Zoon. Clear blond, big head,.Nose is banana, spice, yeast. Taste is sweet malts, banana , sharp spicy yeast. Bitter ending

Bottle. Deep dark brown color. Peach, mango, citrus and a hint of caramel in the aoma and hopbitter flavor. Just a bit oily, pineapple. Not an abundance of hops, but well balance, fairly tasty and fruity.

Bottle. Amber color, hay. Grapefruit, peach and melon in the somewhat grassy aroma. Almost tart flavor with mago, grassy hops and grapefruit. Well made IPA

Bottle. Pale blonde. Hints of citrus and floral grassy notes in the aroma. Malty citric flavor. Dry. Soft floral grassy notes. Lemon sweets in the short aftertaste. A Decent beer, maybe a bit Thin. Thanks Benzai.

Bottle. Thanks Benzai! Blonde. Floral grassy aroma. Thinnish but well hopped flavor with grass, apple, malt and bitter nuts. Hints of yeast. tart notes. Decent.

Bottle. Amber color. Malty floral nutty bitter aroma. Malty, perfumed, floral caramelly nutty flavor. Too sweet and perfumed for me.
