Received in trade from Exiled, thanks for the opportunity Jason! Pours a solid black with a one finger tan head that slowly recedes to a ring on the top and minimal lacing. Smells of roast and chocolate right up front. Slightly oak-y aroma with some dark cherries and plums in there as well. Taste is what I would expect for a stout. Charred grains and chocolate mix very well together with a hint of vanilla and oak and a touch of warming alcohol. Starts off coffee and chocolate, melds into some bitter hop bite, then on to some warming alcohol and oak and bourbon notes mixed with a bit of licorice, leaving a long lingering roast almost ashy aftertaste. This is one amazingly complex tasting stout! Creamy thick body and mouthfeel. Low to medium level of carbonation. God Damn that is one fine thick chewy stout. I would buy this all the time if I could get this locally, I guess a road trip to PA is in store.

Solid Impy Stout, with a good, strong oak finish. Tons of chocolate and coffee, yet the fade is dry and hoppy with enough wood to make a basketball court. The huge ABV slips across the palate with nary a sound, impressive for such a massive stout. Things start to get sweet as it warms, with some raisin and dried fruit appearing, but the peppery finish keeps things tight. Not a classic, but tasty.

Lightly hazy pale yellow with a mammoth white head. Super lemon, lightly sweet, some citrus beyond the lemon, and a bit of yeast in the aroma. Flavor had citrus, bright fruit, lemon, spicy yeast. Fairly refreshing. Body is sorta frothy and active. A nice brew.

Sampled on draft at Headkeepers this beer poured a black color with a small creamy beige head that lingered and left some lacing. The aroma was cola, vanilla and cream. The flavor was cream, vanilla, faint wood, nougat, faint coffee, cola and chocolate syrup. The finish was long with lingering cream, vanilla and coffee. Medium body and quite silky. Interesting. More cowbell!

Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite - Jersey City, 3/28/11

Aroma: The nose is big on roasted malts, some dark chocolate, earth, and black coffee too
Appearance: Pours a dark brown-black color with l creamy, lasting brown head and heavy lacing
Flavor: The taste is heavy malty with lots of big roasted flavors, earth, and bitter coffee/chocolate notes
Palate: The body is fairly full with a creamy feel, it is on the smooth side with a long, rich duration
Overall Impression: Overall, this is a solid stout. It leans heavy to the roasted side, and isn't very sweet. The chocolate and coffee notes lean bitter, and the earth hops add an additional layer of dryness. Solid stuff. This is something I'd go for again.
