Bottle. Pours a clear amber with a slight brown hue and a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma is a combination of strong pine with a strong sweet grain and biscuit backbone. Flavor begins with sweet grains but has a growing pine backbone as well as a hint of grapefruit.

Location: Bottle at Max and Andy's Fantasy Tasting, 5/1/10

Aroma: The nose is fairly sweet, light spice, malty notes, yeast
Appearance: It pours a clearish golden color with light lacing
Flavor: Taste is similar to the nose, spicy and sweet flavors, some veggie notes
Palate: The body is medium, fairly soft carbonation, with a slightly astringent finish to it
Overall Impression: Overall, this is an OK Tripel, but not great. It's a lightly too sweet for my tastes and the vegitation and astringency in the finish don't really work that well either. Not terrible stuff, but not great either.

Shipped to me by my wife on a trip to Portland. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very dark brown color with a huge foamy tan head that lingered and produced good lacing. The aroma was moderate cocoa, toasty malts, vanilla and Dr Pepper. The flavor was toasty, malty and sweet with notes of cocoa, vanilla and Dr Pepper. Long finish. Medium body. Well done.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with an enormous dark brown head that lingered forever and produced great lacing. The aroma was strong chocolate syrup with moderate notes of vanilla, bourbon and wood. The flavor was sweet cocoa, coffee, vanilla, bourbon and toasty malts with light notes of cherry, rum and licorice. The finish was long and sweetish with lingering chocolate syrup, coffee, rum and licorice. Medium body and a bit overcarbonated. Very nice.

Bottled. An almost black beer with a red shine under a brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, caramel, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of alcohol and roasted malt, leading to a dry bitter finish.

On tap at The Taphouse, pours clear amber with a small head. Aroma of sweet caramel, candied sugar and some sweet dried fruits. Flavour is cloying in its sweetness, with candied sugar, plum and raisins. This is too sweet - glad this was only a 6 oz. sample.
