Pelgrimsplein 19, Arendonk, 2370, Belgium
Description

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, dark brown colour with a big and tanned foamy head. Sugary and slightly yeasty dark malty aroma with notes of candied fruits, caramel and spices. Sweet flavour, medium to full bodied with a moderate carbonation. Sugary dark malty taste with spices and a restrained fruit-character; sweet malt-accented and slightly sticky finish, but with a well-covered alcoholic strength. Okay, not so great. 6.I.13

33 cl. bottle @ ‘t Equivalent. From a tiny local hobby (home?) brewery. 6 HL but I am not certain whether that is for both beers together or each one. Served without the bottle, bit odd for me but this isn’t particularly a craft beer bar after all so its fine, I suppose… It is nice that they are interested & promote this kind of beers instead of just pouring pale lager. Pours a hazy golden with a white head on the sides. Bit too cold to smell much, getting some mellow BE yeast, light banana & white bread + sugar. Taste is bitter cloves, BE esters & yeast, bitter, herbs, light mellow banana, some grains. Body is a touch fuller, lightly yeast. Bit standard but solid, good stuff, quite enjoyable. Well done guy.

33 cl. bottle @ ‘t Equivalent. Pours a dark brown ruby with a solid, nice two fingers white head. Smell is sweet glue – excess yeast that didn’t fully take – mocha, spices, nuts, herbs. Taste is lot of sweet glue (excess yeast), herbs, Christmas spices, sweet chocolate, dark fruits, quite sweet, lots of caramel malts. Bit fuller yeasty body – kind of cute. Apparently the brewery is super tiny, 6 HL – not sure if this was for both of their beers or each? It is clumsy but I find it to be rather cute.

20 Oct 2012: 33cl bottle at the lovely Diest bierfestival, shared with my wife. Brown/dark red body with a tan/biege head. This is a fairly sweet brew with malty molasses in both the nose and the taste: The malts aren’t alone though, it is more complicated than that. Yeasty notes, summery fruits, with hints of spices and herbs: all have an appearance in the beer, some fleetingly, some lasting. Complex and slightly oily texture to the bodyfeel. OK more than spectacular but glad we had the bottle.
