Description
Popularized in myth for slaying a fire-breathing dragon, St. George was a 3rd century Roman soldier who stood up for good over evil and was put to death.

The St. George Brewing Company is located in Hampton, VA. It has been in operation since 1998, making us one of the oldest microbreweries in the Hampton Roads area. Our brews are geared toward traditional English and German style ales though occasionally we branch out. We have a tap room that offers 9-12 taps of our rotating beers during our business hours.

The various legends surrounding his death inspired the crusading kings of 12th century England. Today, St George is known as the patron saint of chivalry as well as the patron saint of England.

We have tapped that same inspiration to create award winning ales and lagers that proudly bear the cross of St George.

Tap. Pours deep brown with a huge brown head that laces well. Aroma is faint caramel, roasted malts, and a touch of smoke. Flavor is the same, medium sweet and no real bitterness. Medium body, a bit creamy in the mouth.

Draft at Beer Run. Pours a clear amber color with a thin frothy white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of herbal notes, toasted malts and a strong peppery note. The taste is very much the same. The pepperiness isn’t hot, but very strong. Medium bodied. Not sure I could drink a full pour of this.

Maple nose. Clear amber, thin head. Lemongrass initially. Finishes with fireball heat without the flavor of cinnamon, not even like hot peppers. Well done, which isn’t easy for what this beer is.

Draft at the source, courtesy of staff, thank you! Hazy yellow color, small white head. Aroma is very peppery. Just enough pepper in the taste without overwhelming. Has some saison characteristics. Not bad.
