Description
The Abita Brewing Company is nestled in the piney woods 30 miles north of New Orleans. In its first year, the brewery produced 1,500 barrels of beer. We had no idea what we started. Customers loved our beer! By 1994, we outgrew the original site (now our 100-seat brew pub) and moved up the road to a larger facility to keep up with demand.

We brew more than 125,000 barrels of beer and 13,500 barrels of soda of in our state-of-the-art brewing facility. Our lagers and ales are brewed in small batches, hand-crafted by a team of dedicated workers with only the highest ideals of quality. This pride, along with our brewing process, is what creates our great brews.

We are privately owned and operated by local shareholders, many who have been with us since day one.

Bottle. Pours a clear golden color with a small white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is was a corn malt and very metallic. The taste is as bad as the aroma. Total opposite of the commercial description.

Courtesy of Degarth. Pours with a modest haze with copper body and thin off white head. The aroma starts with a pulse of pine and grassy hops followed by mild somewhat muted maltiness that’s mostly bits of caramel, toffee and mild roastiness. The flavor brings forth pine hop bitterness and grassiness. Then it slowly builds into caramel and mildly roasted maltiness to and through the midway point in the experience. The hop bitterness resurges some into the finish. Nice tasting IPA.

Slight tart strawberry aroma. Yellow, pale in color. Certainly strawberry flavor but not sweet. More like unsweetened syrup. reminds me of strawberry quick or a milk cereal I once had as a kid. Off lingering finish.

Heheheh, I’m not a lover of pecans nor am i an expert on them. This has a plain old good beer aroma with no off hints. On the nose, perhaps i detect some chocolate malt and woody texture. A little hazy and brownish yellow. Fizz is below average but has a pleasant amount of carbonation. Some background bitterness on the palate, as with most ales. A little barmy farmy at times as the session continues. Not sure if the pecan flavor is really there.

Bottle Poured dark brown with a too thick head. Lager like aroma, mix of grass and malt. Flavour like a dark lager, not an ale. I wonder if this beer is mislabelled It doesn’t have any of the toffee, chocolate flavour in the blurb. Finish like a good, not great lager.

Strongly nutty aroma over caramel malt. Coppery amber color with a white/beige head. Near medium body with mild creamy carbonation. Body thins a lot as the carbonation leaves. Flavor is caramel sweetness with something like nut skin bitter. The finish is a bit watery with nut skin bitterness. Washes prosciutto down nicely. Might be a little rough without the meat.

Hazy dull straw. Woody, slightly lemony hop nose with light pale malts. Some wood and tropical fruit taste. Fairly low bitterness. A bit watery in the finish, and despite some nice hop notes the malts never amount to much.
