Description
The Abita Brewing Company is nestled in the piney woods 30 miles north of New Orleans. In its first year, the brewery produced 1,500 barrels of beer. We had no idea what we started. Customers loved our beer! By 1994, we outgrew the original site (now our 100-seat brew pub) and moved up the road to a larger facility to keep up with demand.

We brew more than 125,000 barrels of beer and 13,500 barrels of soda of in our state-of-the-art brewing facility. Our lagers and ales are brewed in small batches, hand-crafted by a team of dedicated workers with only the highest ideals of quality. This pride, along with our brewing process, is what creates our great brews.

We are privately owned and operated by local shareholders, many who have been with us since day one.

Bottled at Akkurat, Stockholm. Hazy pale amber, average head. Tart raspberry aroma. Dryish, light and clean. Though simple it’s drinkable and refreshing. No bitterness. A well made beer in a pointless style.

Bottled at Akkurat, Stockholm. Dark brown, creamy head. Sweet and caramelly. Light-medium bodied with clean hard crystal malt profile. Short, lightly salty finish. Simple and a bit harsh.

Aroma is like caramel and corn? Hint of tobacco? Amber color with no head. Thinnish body with light, fizzy carbonation. The flavor is caramel and not much hop. The finish has a metallic note. Better than Bud.

Off aroma. Strong taste and orangish color. Some creamy carbonation. A little too strong for my liking. Seems to be much higher than the 6% listed here. leaves a lingering malty alky bitterness on the finish that does not go away soon and makes it difficult to enjoy.

On tap New Orleans Pours out a dark brown topped with a off white almost tan head. A great aroma of sweet chocolate. Tats was good some nuts, coffee, and bitter chocolate. This was the best brew from Abita I have had. Also one step more the best brew in New Orleans I tasted.

What a strange name. Note to self: ’Need to find out more about this name.’ Pop the lid and rotten lemony aroma. Appearance of slightly hazy pale yellow American lager. Easy to drink, tho it does posses a few of the attributes of an ale. Rather friendly and pale lager like. Enjoyable with a touch of wet straw.

Bottle. Pours a bubbly amber with two inches of head. Smells like bread. Tastes like copper and finishes dry.

Re-rate 10/7/12: Bottle. Beer of the month club. Clear deep golden with a medium white head. Pleasant floral and citric hops aroma with a bit of bready and slightly biscuity malt. Flavor has light malt sweetness and crisp floral/citric hops bitterness. Light-medium-bodied. A nice one. It seems I like it better than I did 5 years ago. 7/3/7/3/14=3.4

Bottle sample at a tasting. Hazy golden color with a white head. Aroma of floral hops, a bit of malt and a bit of citrus. Flavor of sweet malt, a bit fruity, with a mild and quite weak dry finish with hops and a bit of citrus. Body is too light. Rather boring. 6/3/5/2/11=2.7
