Description
Aloha. That’s how most conversations begin here. It’s also how many of them end. But “Aloha” doesn’t just mean hello and goodbye and love and welcome. It means more than a word can express. It’s a feeling. A way of life. “Aloha” is the idea that we are all connected to everyone and everything around us and that true joy is found in respecting this connection. And it’s in this aloha spirit that the Kona Brewing Company was founded back in 1994 by Cameron Healy and his son Spoon Khalsa. They combined their love of Hawaii and its pristine, natural beauty with their fondness for delicious, local brews, and lucky for us, their dream lives on more than 20 years later.
So try a few of them. And join us in our pursuit of aloha.

Golden witht hin white head. Aroma of wheat, lightly fruity. Taste is fizzy , wheat and light notes of passion fruit, citrus, givng the beer a nice sweet taste. Good, clean and refreshing. Not the best wheat out there, wish they had made the passion fruit a little more present.

Bottle on 07/12/2008. Very clear golden body with a medium frothy white head. Sweet sugar, honey, and light hop aroma. Corn and grain flavor, some light floral hops and a mild bitter finish. Medium light body with moderately high carbonation.

Pours orange with a good thick white head. Aroma of roasted malt, taste is sugary/caramel malt, with a note of spices (maybe light touch of ginger or cinnamon) and citrus. Slightly hoppy, well balanced.

Bottle. Poured pale gold with a thick foamy head. Aroma of spice and sea water, not what you’d expect from a beer. Crisp clean malt flavour, good on a hot day. A bit of a good hop bite in the finish. A good session lager.

Hazy straw-amber. Very subtle passion fruit aroma underneath a somewhat crackery, metallic maltiness. Heavy passion fruit taste, balanced by crackery malt but there is no semblance of integration, just two components clashing. Fairly dry finish for a fruit beer. Not much wheat.

Sampled at the Northern Virginia Summer BrewFest (2008). Maybe I have a soft spot for fruity beers. I thought this one was pretty fantastic. A decent wheat beer with a touch of citrus in the form of tropical passion fruit.

Wow, this is horrible! Hazy golden with a small fading head. Aroma is mostly wheaty/minty with a vague tropical fruitiness. A touch of spiciness. Goes downhill fast once you drink it however, with a sharp acidic twang, like bad crotch. Empty finish but with a lingering grossness. Wow, and I got 5 more of these. I hope my neighbor likes it.

Near black colour. Fresh black malt nose is decadent, with rich fruits. The palate is again rich in black malts with some fruitiness. Quality brew.

Pretty standard pale ale yet really pleasant and refreshing when really fresh, as my sixer is. Pours a semi-hazy copper color, full creamy head. Moderately hoppy aroma with a lemony citrus and herbal nose, with a background of caramelized malts. Flavor is balanced to a T. Full rounded malts, crisp herbal hops, semi-dry finish. Enjoyable sessionish pale ale and a neutral partner to a wide variety of foods.

Draught: Poured a copper color with a white head. The aroma is slight hops and grain. The taste is similar hops with a soft grain and malt.
