Description
18th Street Brewery in Hammond, IN is a brewpub, taproom, and bottle shop. We specialize in hand-crafted big, small, barrel-aged and even sour beers.

18th Street Brewery was founded as a home brewery by Drew Fox in 2010. After years of hands-on learning and exploration, 18th Street Brewery became official with the release of Sinister DIPA in 2013. Shortly after the Sinister release, we opened a 3,200 square foot brewpub in Gary, IN. Quickly outgrowing that space, we purchased a 32,000 square foot warehouse in Hammond, IN. Our Hammond location now houses our production, packaging, barrel program, a taproom and a full service kitchen. Our original Gary, IN now houses a small 10-barrel open fermentation system, as well as a taproom, craft cocktail bar and kitchen.

We are currently the second largest brewery in Northwest Indiana. Our beers range from saisons to double India Pale Ales to double milk stouts to pilsners and lagers. 18th Street is comprised of hard working, motivated individuals who strive to be the best. We love our jobs. We love our beer. We live and love what we do.

Bottle bought @ The Mikkeller webshop. No bottled on date I can find. Pours hazy deep orange with a creamy offwhite head that slowly dissipates while leaving lots of sticky lacing and trace on the glass. smell is slightly malty and fruity with biscuits, caramel, grapefruit juice, moist grass, pine needles, yellow winegums, grapefruit pith and lemon zest. Taste is sweet, slightly malty and tiny fruity with biscuits, caramel, grapefruit pith, moist grass, pine needles, cardboard and lemon zest. Mouthfeel is round, tiny boozy and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet, bitter and tiny fruity with biscuits, caramel, grapefruit pith, moist grass, pine needles, cardboard, orange peal and lemon zest. Another old outrageously priced IPA from the Mikkeller webshop.

Bottle bought @ The Mikkeller webshop. No bottled on date I can find. Pours hazy brownish red with a frothy offwhite head that slowly dissipates while leaving some lacing and trace on the glass. Smell is malty and tiny fruity with biscuits, caramel, pineapple juice, grapefruit juice, moist grass, pine needles, lemon zest, cardboard and hints of alcohol. Taste is slightly sweet, bitter, slightly fruity and slightly vegetal with biscuits, caramel, toffee, grapefruit juice, pineapple juice, celery, moist grass, pine needles, alcohol, cardboard and lemon zest. Mouthfeel is slightly sticky sweet, slightly astringent, slightly boozy and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet, bitter, tiny fruity and slightly vegetal with biscuits, caramel, sweet dark bread, grapefruit juice, unripe pineapple, cardboard, moist grass, celery, alcohol and lemon zest. Old, oxidized and incredibly expensive. Shame on the Mikkeller shop for selling old stale beer for such a price.

Bottle at Craig’s. Pours jet black with a thin tan head. Aromas of coffee, liquorice and chocolate. Taste is dominated by the coffee, light sweet dark chocolate coming in at the end. Slightly thinner than the base beer, but still very nice.
