Allagash was founded Rob Tod in 1995. As a brewery, we strive to create some of the best Belgian-style beers in the world. As people, we make sure to enjoy ourselves along the way. Part of that joy comes from constantly pushing the sustainability of our brewing operation and making a positive impact in our community. Clear dark copper in color, with thin lacing of large bubbles - surprisingly sweet aroma, with hints of strawberry, cherry, caramel, oak, a background yeasty funk - mildly sweet up front, with the fruits from the aroma, some almost biscuity malt, and a hint of chocolate - oak and vinous notes come in afterwards - the brett is there, but it’s way in the background (kind of like they blended a tiny bit of lambic into a standard belgian strong ale) - a little thinner than I expected, but quite tasty - however, at nearly 20 bucks a bottle, I probably won’t shell out the money for it again.

A hazy yellow beer with a white head. The aroma is extremely lemony - just like squeezing a lemon right under Your nose. The flavor is sweet wheaty - again with loads of lemon - almost like lemonade, leading to a dry spicy end, that reminds me of lemongrass. The body is thin. OK - but too much lemon for me.

A red-brown beer with a beige head. The aroma is sweet fruity combined with some notes of pine needles and hints of smoke, while the flavor is sweet with notes of over ripe fruit, caramel, and alcohol. Nice.

Bottle: Poured a hazy (real hazy, I just can’t see through my glass) golden color ale with a medium bubbly white head with minimum retention. Aroma of bourbon is quiet easy to detect but also some real funky yeast is present which remind of a saison or even a lambic without the sourness though. Taste is a bit too sharp in alcohol at first, which kind of ruin it for me since I don’t like the warming feeling. But you get used to it and it seems to disappear (or I might just be getting drunk) and then I can see some traces of a nice abbey tripel with a strong yeast profile, which provide a farmhouse side that I really enjoyed. Overall, probably not something I would go for on a regular basis but I still enjoyed. If I was to rate on experiment alone though, I would have rated this much higher since I appreciated the fact that Allagash tried to do something different.

Batch 8. Resin, caramel and licorice aromas. Deep amber in appearance with long lasting, finely-formed head. Spicy and malty with lively carbonation. Long caramel and alcohol finish.

This cloudy lemon yellow brew pours with a smallish white head that sheets the glass in classic Belgian Lace fashion. Lemony sweet aroma. Lightly sweet flavor with a smooth creamy mouthfeel.

(Bottle 75 cl) Unclear pilsener golden with a small, off-white head. Rather neutral aroma - mainly of alcohol. Full and markedly alcoholic body with the bourbon flavours slowly but splendidly unfolding warming your palate. This is almost zen! The finish is pure bourbon. Delicious. 270106
