Notably spicy aroma, and drinks just a little bigger than true session style.

As with their white - a dead on interpretation of the style, and one of the best of its style produced in the USA. Light in body, making it exceptionally drinkable, yet full-flavored, with plenty of spicy yeasty notes.

Zesty and pleasant, but just a hint of citrus and spice, but mainly a full malt presence, with hints at caramel and alcohol. Very reminiscient of the Celis Grand Cru, but a shade lighter in body, which makes it less characterful but more drinkable.

Allagash Dubbel
Cloudy light brown colour. Aroma of bubblegum and raisin, brown sugar. Sweet palate with toasty, raisiny character and dark chocolate. Balanced, soft but uninteresting.

I didn't like this nearly as much as their White. One-dimensional Belgian character: yeasty, acidic and sour.

Credit goes to ratebeer.com and the Featured Beer page for convincing me to seek this beer out. Wow. Clean, yet full of character and complex spices. Great light yellow cloudiness.
