Tap at So Good in Rome. Black ink pour, tan brownish cap. Nose is a triumph of roast, so charming coffee, medium sweet chocolate, nesquik. Mouthfeel: is this a Dark Lord? Very intensive coffee/cocoa smoothie. Lovely. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Italian BBA stout, tasted from tap at Kantien in Ghent. Pale yellowish beige, moussy ring lacing in dots over a black beer with hazy mahogany edges. Aroma of hot chocolate sauce, varnish, bourbon, coffee, walnut liqueur, toffee, toasted brown bread, cigar tobacco, burnt wood, charred barbecue meat, treacle. Sweet onset, candied dates and figs, light soy sauce-like umami note, prickling carb (a bit much for this style even), thick and oily, resinous body consisting of a thick, luscious layer of toffeeish and chocolatey maltiness, sweet initially but quickly shifting to a firm, chicory- and coffee-like roasted bitterness accentuated by an equally firm dosis of boozy bourbon heating the back. Woody tannins are there but relatively subtly so, solventy glue- and paint thinner-like aspects do come up retronasally; ends hot, bittersweet and toasty. Classic and successful interpretation of the BBA 'impy' standard set by Bourbon County Brand Stout, but compared with that famous example, lacking a bit in complexity and restraint and a tad too obviously alcoholic for me personally.

Handpump at Luppolo Station in Rome. Amber clear with a decent off white foam. Nose: crust and malts. Mouth: esile, easy, watery, lacks body. It is solid all in all. Yes

From 0,75l bottle shared at Bere Buona Birra, big thanks. Copper hazy color, small off white head. Smells very fruity, raspberries, blackberries, wood, light marzipan. Very nice smell. Full body, light carbonation. Tastes of raspberries, earthy, blackberries, wood, marzipan. Finishes dry and medium earthy bitter with notes of berries, marzipan and woody/vermouth notes. Nice to very nice one, smell was almost a bit better than the taste. Taste had a bit of a bitter component which I think was from the wood. Got better once it warmed up, overall good stuff. 8, 4, 7, 3, 15

Huge thanks Bazz! Shared with him, Vran & Sandi ST. Extremely dark brown body, nearly black, tiny tan head. Complex aroma, coconut, cocoa, dark malts, some bourbon, some vague bubblegum esters too, clean and lean. Lean and thin taste, dark malts bringing some of their tartness, smooth edges, as expected, solid malty presence, maybe some bourbon again, but low-key, quite drinkable for the ABV, solid, but not particularly thrilling. Just lacked complexity. Still, would have it again!

Bottle. Dark brown-blackish. Sweetish full malty sweetish aroma, chocolate, mild coconut, maybe vanilla, bit rough in the beginning with alcohol but that goes away soon...but it does end slightly corky/stale. Smooth sweetish taste, cocoa, roast, alcohol, but smooth AF and a solid beer. Bitterish finish and more alcohol. Quite a solid effort.

Bottle. Black body, brownish-tan head. Sweetish coffee aroma, not too fantastic, just good, by a sticky malty aroma. Lean taste, sweetish coffee/mild chocolate, mild roasty bitterness, some of that Fonte smoothness, but not too much. Solid, okay.

Bottle, thanks Bazz! Spot on murky dark brown, off white creamy tiny head. Lovely fruity estery and malty aroma, vague peppery estery touches. This could pass as a top quality Belgian strong dark ale. Taste... Maltiness degenerating into a meaty yeastiness, sweetish. Just... Like a crappy Belgian strong dark. This beer made me happy and then made me sad.
