Draught at KØ16. Sweet liquorice aroma. Cloudy-looking, black colour. Almost no head. The flavour has a mild vanilla note to begin with, then comes a good alcohol burn. Finishes with a nice sweetish and bitter liquorice. Very mellow.

Draught, 8.7% at KØ16. Good lemony hop aroma. Hazy yellow colour. Small stable white head. The flavour has a good grapefruit note, then comes a good sweetness and what seems like a chili finish. Tastes better than it might sound.

Bottle. Pours hazy reddish cola brown with small white head. Aroma is roasted malt, malt syrup, raspberry lemonade, fresh roasted coffee beans and leather. Taste is light sweet, very bitter, light acidic and faint salty. Body is watery with sparkling carbonation. Finish is long and very bitter with notes of malt, malt syrup, bitter grapefruit, ground coffee, dark chocolate, white sugar, dried apricot, grapefruit seeds and hints if soy sauce. Very intense and complex yet nicely balanced.

On tap at Basement Beer Bar. A big dark beige head settled on top of a black body. The aroma is on the roasted side, with some licorice and alcohol, oat, coffee and a touch of heavy caramel sauce. The caramel sauce is very dominant in the mouth, but there’s still plenty of room for roasted malts and oats, licorice and coffee. There’s some alcohol too. It’s full bodied, warming and smoothly carbonated, lightly sticky on the palate. Everlasting caramel sauce, licorice, coffee and roasted malts finish, with the coffee more pronounced as the beer warms up slightly. Perhaps a bit alcoholic for the ABV, but it’s a tasteful and complex beer I wouldn’t mind having again on a later occasion. 160622
