Regional brewery that is very known for both it's own brands, as well as their contract brews.
In the period after 1850, the De Meester-Boelens brewery was founded at the current address in the Kerkstraat. in 1897 the name changed to Boelens-De Meester. Brewing stopped during World WarI, after the war the family continued the business as a bottling and beer enterprise. In 1978 Kris Boelens took over the beer business from his father. He reintroduced beer brewing in Belsele in 1993. In 2016 his son Yannick Boelens joined the brewery.

Pours unclear blonde, ok fluffy white head. Smell is buttery malts. Taste is mildly bitter. Some malts. Slightly bitter aftertaste. OK .

33 cl bottle. Pours hazy dark orange to brown with a small white head. Aroma is fruity, toasted malty. Sweet caramelish. Toasted malty. Bitter and light fruity. Medium dry finish.

7th Feb 2015: Brugge Beer Festival. Golden blond, my pour was slightly hazy. The nose had a honey twang to it, some spicy notes and yeastiness. The taste seemed sweeter with caramel malty flavours coming through. Mild but prolonged bitterness towards the finish. Another honey beer that has failed to excite my taste buds too greatly.

Pale yellow with massive soapy head. Aroma is yeasty and has a hint of lemony citrus. Strange taste. Boiled veg. Bitter yeast.

Bouteille 33cl, someone please tell Boelens what an IPA ought to be like, thank you. This is a disgraceful attempt at making a beer, plus the fact that half of it gushed out is just plain bad quality. BB 04/04/2016. Dorée, col blanc léger. Arôme est herbacé avec un profil belge levure très prononcé et qui domine le tout. On retrouve une impression industrielle sans aucunes saveurs de ces houblons, rétro de grains, léger fruité. Un peu normal vu que tout s’est mélangé avec le gusher. Palais est bcp trop effervescent, agrumes léger sur une forte présence de levure, ou sont les houblons; Cascade et Mozaic? Résiduel sucré, note épicée du seigle avec un côté médicinal. Retrouve une impression de malts de base pils très, voire trop, belge, on s’ennuie et de plus la bière est mal exécutée à la limite de l’amateurisme.

Bottle @ M-Café, Leuven. Golden colour, white foam. Lively carbonation. Fruity nose with notes of banana and some spices. Also some honey. Bitter finish. Ok.

Bottle: Poured a murky toilet brown copper with off white head. Sweet sugary fruit aroma. Nice sweet malts, sugary, fermented fruit and dry metallic finish.

Bottle: Started to gush as soon as the cap was popped. Poured a dark malted brown with huge beige head. Sweet sugars and fruit aroma. Taste is fermented dark fruit and brown candy sugar.

MF: lots of carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty bitter, yeasty, spicy, coriander, some cocoa powder, hoppy. Aftertaste: quite some banana, yeast, some citrus, coriander, bitter hops, floral, little fruity.
