I was more than pleasantly surprised at how pleasant this beer was to drink (I expected any non-alcoholic beer to be trash). Instead, it was smooth and tasted good - although not very interesting and ultimately was very middle of the road. Still, if you're gonna go NA, Kaliber is about as good as you can get.

Very dark ruby-brown. Thick tan head. Yes, they drew a frickin’ shamrock in it. I remember when this beer wasn’t so damn cutesy. Aroma? On a nitrotap? Hardly any flavour, either. Very watery, just a hint of roast, nuts and maybe vanilla. Artificially thick body. Tart, watery finish. You can’t even call this dry anymore - they’ve cut back the hops and the malt sweetness is much more in evidence as a result. Downgrade from 2.7 overall.

St. Lucia
Brewed by W&L. The Lucian version is the base extract blended with Piton and this characterizes the beer. The stout part is roasty, almost to the point of astringency. But the herbal Piton hops clash with the Guinness, rendering the beer borderline unpalatable. I’m pretty sure this is the worst FES I’ve had. 6-3-6-3-12 = 3.0

I never got around to re-rating this so i figured I’d better. Pale straw, very fizzy. Strong fizziness dominates the entire experience here. Very light malts, barely detectable. Just enough hops to catch them in the finish - although the lingering finish seems an unbalanced bitter.

Finally getting around to updating my rating on this beer. Properly poured from nitro keg at cellar temp, this is a smooth lightly roasty stout with a roasted nose and a slightly sour and dry finish. Mouthfeel is creamy, almost milky. Overall lacking in character. The draught cans and bottles are essentially the same: overly creamy bland presentation with a hint of roast. The new commercial description and Guinness's new mission: to serve this up extra fast and ice cold, well, it speeds the decline of a great beer. Either the folks at Guinness have completely sold their souls, or they have no respect for the North American beer drinker. Either way, its good enough reason to drink something else.
