A plain, decent beer. Harp is nothing to get excited over, but it's nothing to pass up (if you're thinking about going for a Bud Lite). It's a light yellow, not a ton of carbonation, goes down smooth, and leaves you mildly happy. I grab a Harp once in awhile, but not often.

The appearance is just beautiful: dark, thick, rich, creamy, with a nice tan head like no other beer. The smell is appetizing! MMMM. The taste: refreshing and smooth, with an occasional bite. The beer, for me, is extremely drinkable. I’ve had this beer a few ways: nitro can, nitro bottle, and on tap. Tap is my favorite, followed by bottle. Can can be iffy at times.

"Draught" from can. Black and white; and pours in the right Guinness way. Malt and licorice aroma. Initial impression is a very watery beer, but soon a strong malt/hops bitterness takes over. Aftertaste is quite short.

I had to try this popular stout finally. My best analogy is like drinking a Halls mentholyptus cough drop. Prev review mentions "thin" I agree. I guess I am still learning why I like Porters more than stouts, in general. To strong.

The best thing going for this is that it is one half of the original "Black & Tan". past that it's just another mediocre lager beer. Probably be a decent beer on tap close to home, but it's just a fair beer here out of the bottle.

Pours a reddish copper with a nice creamy head if poured vigourously enough. Otherwise coarse bubbles. This Smithwichs was from a bottle and I think is a little stale...but I could find some dark malt aromas with a little roasting character. Very small fragrance of vineger and florals. Malty initial taste, slightly bitter finish with floral and caramel notes.

Dark amber colour with a thin off-white head. Aroma of caramel, roasted malt and not much else. Medium to Light-bodied; Subtle malt flavour with a bit of caramel and some light spices. Velvety texture with a bland palate. Overall, a pretty disapointing beer, not really worth trying...but it was a good treat! I sampled this beer on draught at Siné in Pentagon City (Arlington), Virginia on 26-December-2003.

Brownish head. Dark, brown colour. Malt, sweet aroma. Water-flavour, little sweet. The aftertaste reminds me of 'drop', a disgusting sort of candy.

On draught at The Claddagh in Columbus, OH. Apparently Guinness bought this brand so you will start seeing it at more places where Guinness is sold eventually. They sold Bass to Labatt's? Anyway this beer is pretty much along the lines of Killian's, but maybe a little better. Billed as "Ireland's Oldest Ale", this beer is a dark brownish-amber with a thick beige head. The lacing is super sticky and thin. Light malt aroma. Medium-bodied with flavors of malt and caramel. The finish is mostly hops. Not too bad.
