Description
Mexican craft brewery + wood-fired taqueria offering crispy lagers, tropical IPAs, and barrel-aged and bottle-conditioned limited release ales.

As expressed by our crossroads logo, Keep all lines open and flowing is a mantra for making and serving good beer — a reflection of our commitment to sharing and exploring possibilities.

Cruz Blanca makes beers that open people up to new flavors, new ideas, and new experiences. From endlessly refreshing Mexican lagers and sunny IPAs that transport us to warmer places, to the less-travelled roads of barrel-aged and wild fermentation ales, there’s always a journey in the beer that keeps us curious about what’s next.

We’re all at the same long table, and there’s always room for one more. Let’s keep all lines open and flowing.

Can from Home Bargains, Rochdale. Hazy golden colour with a small head. Juicy aroma and tropical fruit tasting brew with a light carbonation. Its citrus is pleasant only providing a low citric bitterness in this instance.

12oz can. This is an Oktoberfest now, not a Doppelbock. Rather classic, clean Fest beer. Touches of amber malt, light caramel. 5.5% ABV, but drinks very smooth and easy. OK.

12oz can. Refreshing enough, well made, but the excessive lime tone isn't for me. Sort of hollow body. Hints at sour, but I guess it is just the fruit. Drinkable, but thin, not a lot going on besides the lime flavor.

Tap at DU. Kind of nails it. Really clean body, light, dry, refreshing. Solid passion fruit tone. Hibiscus is there , but doesn't add any of the deep cherry tones you might hope for. Well executed fruit beer all the way.

16oz can. This one is a Grapefruit Gose, 5%. The grapefruit is big, but comes off rather artificial to me. Base beer beyond that seems decent, but this is too flavored for me, doesn't really do it.

16oz can. Really nice beer. Sour culture is under control, but adds some funky depth. Well attenuated, but the honey smooths it out some. Rather unique stuff, really cool interplay between the honey and the yeast.

12oz can. Solid for the style, which really isn't a Helles or a Vienna. Excellent clean medium body. Zesty hop balance, bready malts. Very drinkable, all around quality stuff.

16oz can. Last rating since the times of TheAlum. Wow. 5.0% ABV in these times. A smoked weizen, not unlike Schlenkerla, perhaps not quite as smoky. Either way, quite excellent stuff, and the dry hopping fleshes it out some.

Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear gold with a white head that lasts throughout the beer and laces. Aroma has corn and light grains with a bit of straw and bread supporting. Flavor is corn forward with light sweet grains underlying and a bread backbone.

Frontera ORD draught, 10/26/22. Moderately hazy, bright pineapple with a small, white head. Heavy, heavy ester though no raw bubblegum. Lightly tropical and moderately citric hops with supportive malts adding white bread and cracker. No resin, tons of estery fruit and lots of tropical fruit and citrus from the hops. Extremely low bitterness and a bit weak on hop character overall, but clean and reasonably attenuated.
