Description
At Luppolo our beer is equally as important as the atmosphere we create in our lounge. Enjoy our selection of craft beers and delicious food in a warm and welcoming environment, your home away from home located in the “Yeast Van” Brewery District in Vancouver, BC.

Luppolo (pronounced loop-o-lo) means hops in Italian. We chose an Italian name due to the Italian heritage of two of our owners and because the values associated with Italian culture–quality, craftsmanship, community and family–are central to our vision.

473ml can. Pours a cloudy orange yellow with yeast particles that settle on the bottom and a medium, foamy, long lasting, white head that leaves soapy curtains of lace. Sweet fruity aroma of bready pale malt, orange, mango, cantaloupe, earthy yeast and floral hops. Sweet fruity flavour of bready pale malt, grapefruit peel, mango, pineapple, earthy yeast, oats and pine resin in a dry, mild bitter finish. Medium body with a slightly creamy, smooth texture and soft carbonation. Juicy and delicious.

On tap at Luppolo. Pours hazy yellow-blonde with a white head. Dry Brett, citrus peels, and gooseberries on the nose. Flavour is quite dry, a good amount of Brett, hopping is tangy and floral, some citrus on the finish. The Brett & Motueka work very well together, very well done.

On tap at Strange Fellows. Pours clear golden blonde with a white head. Crisp pine, oily resins, and biscuit malt on the nose. Flavour has nice punch of piney Simcoe, sticky resins, and a soft biscuit malt base. Good use of Simcoe, very solid.

On tap at Luppolo, pours a cloudy yellow with a medium white head. Aroma brings out a great mix of rustic saison yeast, tangy gooseberry-like hops due to the NZ, and gentle musty brett. Flavour is dry, hoppy and bretty, with a big brett character upfront, nice rustic saison yeast, and beautifully bright, tangy hop expression courtesy of the Motueka. Bone dry finish, yet very bright and complex. This is great.

On tap at Luppolo, pours a hazed golden with a small white head. Aroma is full of piney hops, light oiliness, and crisp biscuity malt. Flavour definitely packs some Simcoe, with a nice, clean piney hop expression, gentle oiliness in the mouthfeel, and a dry malt base. Well-constructed—they didn’t skimp on the hops, yet there’s good balance. Good stuff.

On tap at Luppolo, pours black with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out bizarre herbal/vegetal notes—I guess that’s the hibiscus—along with some molasses, and toasted malt. Flavour is bizarre, with lots of bitterness from the molasses—almost more like marmite—with a strange floral undertone. Marmite bomb. This doesn’t work at all. Ugh.

On tap at Luppolo. Pours black with a beige head. Toasted rye bread on the nose with subtle floral notes; a bit of an odd combo. Flavour is pretty odd: burnt malts, an iodine-like molasses character, and gentle floral accents. This does not come together for me, the malts aren't really there and the molasses does not help.
