Description
Brewery Martens has been in business for 260 years. Throughout our rich history, which remains embedded in our native town of Bocholt to this very day, the brewery has always remained in hands of the Martens family. Yet, while we put great store by our family history, all eight generations of the Martens family have also continuously been driven by innovation and state-of-the-art processes, which is what has made us into one of the most modern and innovative breweries in the country today.

Bottle. Dark ruby brown, small off-white head. Very, very sweet, extremely sticky. Syrupy and metallic. So much sugar it nearly killed me.

Spicy, yeasty aroma. Flavour is quite nice and spicy with a salty edge and lots of yeast. Clean finish, no excessive sweetness.

Can. A golden beer with a disaapearing white head. The aroma is sweet malty and so is the flavor though combined with notes of caramel and metal.

500ml plastic bottle from Aldi. Dark straw with a thick short-lasting white head; sour malt aroma; sweet and malty, rather watery; but a reasonably bitter finish. Cheap and cheerful.

Can. Golden color with a creamy, medium, quite stable white head. A rather hoppy aroma. Flavor has some sweetish maltiness in the beginning that quickly turns to a rather bitter herbal hoppiness with some metallic notes. A light body. Not so bad overall.

Bottled. Clearamber, brief head. Light resiny nose with some phenols. Sweet with clean, hard mouthfeel. Syrup hides the alcohol well, but does nothing to improve the flavour or mouthfeel.

Botled. Clear pale golden, small head. Mustardy spicy nose. Sweet with clean mouthfeel. Lightly fruity and spritzy with some crystal malt flavour. Pleasant, but rather one-dimensional.

Can. Golden color with a big, quite stable, white head. Light hoppy aroma with a bit of malt. Flavor starts sweet, malty and grainy, and finishes with some grassy hop bitterness and a bit of metal. Watery mouthfeel. Drinkable.
